Behind the Green Door

Marilyn Chambers is kidnapped off the street and forced to perform in a live sex show at an exclusive swingers club, which unsurprisingly blossoms into a huge orgy. Practically no nudity for the first 30 minutes, time wasted on pointless framing devices and meandering exposition. Eventually it gets decent, but most of the sex is shot too close, too dark, or out of focus.

Although slightly groundbreaking for the adult film, it was too artsy to jerk off to, and too silly to be any good on it's own.

Rather weird, but some of the images stick with you. But it's almost as if Mai Zetterling directed a porn flick.

Awful film. Doesn't work on any level. Abysmal cinematography leaves virtually every shot far too dark. One point for a marginally interesting idea.

Music and imagery are employed to striking, hypnotic effect, but the unnecessary framing device and preposterous length of the sex scenes hold it back, and there's no getting around its rapeyness.

Kind of a non-existent plot and not in a good way, but it managed to hold itself together right until the artsy, acid-dripping sequence which you just know, with absolute certainty, is there because the directors saw 2001: A Space Odyssey and thought So ein Ding muss wir auch haben.

Too much porn for an art film, too little porn for an adult film. -- Cut down to a 20 min short film this would have been a good movie.
