A US propaganda film about Japanese imperialism. What makes this film even harder to watch is not only its dullness but also the special make up and facial appliances that make white actors into Japanese militants. I don't know if yellowface covers this very popular and financially successful RKO film.

Behind the Rising Sun (1943) had only one objective. Demonetizing the Japanese as we follow and rather meddling plot in Tokyo leading up to the war. Starts semi-friendly and turns nasty as it progresses. Not a shred of sympathy for the Japanese soldier, though it's not as nasty toward the Japanese people trapped by their leaders ambitions. They do a good job of separating the two. But it doesn't stop this from being a difficult film to like. More like a interesting tidbit from that time-frame.
