Excellent comic farce is pretty much par for the course from Chaplin - notable here is the notorious 'sissy' gag, with Campbell prancing about once the lovers are discovered, and Chaplin's messing about with a prop pillar. The old trapdoor gag works very well too.

It started off a little slow, but it picks up really well. I don't think I've ever found pie fights funny before, but the one here is pretty great.

The balancing with a pilar was long and funny joke and a good example of excellent timing. The hatchet joke then again was pretty pooring. There was one gay joke and a ongoing cake on a face joke.

A fairly dull short that has few shining moments. Most of the humor is pretty childish and underwhelming.

The usual from Chaplin. Not really all that funny, but a product of a far less cynical times than ours (nearly a century now!) and , as such, a little pleasant by virtue of being cheery

Another loosely connected series of gags for the most part, but it's all good silly fun. Also, Edna's especially cute in this one.

I don't know if I watched too many Chaplin shorts in a row, but this one felt a little thrown together. I did learn how to carry a handful of chairs better, and the pie fight -- a humor film staple -- was decent. I'm also led to believe that a few well-placed trapdoors -- perhaps in Congress, say -- might be worth investigating.

Lots of fun gags here (esp. enjoyed the pillar and the chairs), but the story is so filled with activity and new events that it becomes weighed down with narrative. Charlie has some nice moments with his Goliath, Eric Campbell, particularly the pie throwing.
