Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla

What's worse than Jerry Lewis? A Lewis impersonator that's who. And the only thing worse than that is the abysmal jokes they fed this kid from the script. In fact most jokes aren't jokes all, relying on the impersonation to sell it entirely. As bad as this all is there's nothing worse than a comedy that's not funny and this is the film's greatest sin. Still he did a couple of good scare takes and Lugosi is excellent as always.

The only character in the movie with any real depth to them was the annoying asshelmet Petrillo.

Completely watchable yet aggressively unfunny. I liked the part when Bela Lugosi met the gorilla.

I was so much happier before I knew of the existence of Sammy Petrillo. The Dean Martin knockoff guy wears his shirt really gay. I can make that observation because I didn’t mention how pathetic Bela Lugosi is.

Sammy Petrillo may be the most annoying actor I've ever seen. His 'Jerry Lewis' rip-off makes this film hard to watch. At least it has Bela Lugosi.

Do you want to see Bela Lugosi in a couple of scenes with a chimp and a guy in a gorilla outfit? Yes, you say? Are you really, really sure? If so, then this is your best bet, but if that is not your dearest dream, stay far away. This was my unhappy introduction to Sammy Petrillo, a Z grade Jerry Lewis impersonator (and I don't even find Lewis funny), and he's one of the most annoying characters I've seen in the movies. Total trash.
