Wasn't a big fan of the conventional warfare stuff in the middle, which ended up being kinda boring, especially because Shakhnarazov doesn't do much of interest with his camera and ends up with a lot of flat, overlit wide shots. But it switches gears (ugh) when the crew chase the Tiger into that muddy village for a very cool, tense little standoff, and then the bizarrely long German surrender scene that seems to be from another movie, and then it gets REALLY weird. Disappointing, but still good.

Starts off as a pretty awesome war movie, well written, well acted, great effects, great story. But here and there we get some strange stuff injected trying convince us that the lead is a nut job. Then, right at the friggin battle climax, bam, Germany surrenders and it makes you feel like mid-script they sacked the writer and put in his retarded cousin as a replacement. If you just stop the movie at the final scene, it's awesome, otherwise, it's just really good.

This starts off well with some excellent scenes involving T-34/85 tanks in battle. It looks good. The story plays out well with some strange bits along the way but in the last 25 minutes or so it goes off the rails and becomes just plain odd. Still worth a look though.

An interesting example of a contemporary propaganda.

The concept is interesting, but it doesn't really seem to go anywhere with it. If it weren't for the lengthiness and tedium of the tank battle sequences I may have rated this higher, as the writing is solid most of the time, and it is well made.
