In "Bent it Like Karl Urban," Karl Urban plays a bearded cop who's tossed into prison because he was convicted of being bent, which--much like orange is the new black--is the new crooked. Upon his release, he goes back to being Karl Urban, and for some reason I'm guessing the writers didn't even know, a seductive government agent (not one of those unseductive...? inseductive? disseductive? ones) takes interest in him. Seductive interest. Guns are fired. Movie ends. Karl Urban remains Karl Urban.

This movie uses the word "bent" so much, that it is obvious they are trying to add this word to our vocabulary. Apparently, it means "dirty cop". Who knew? It's moderately entertaining, and it was nice to see Sofia Vergara in something other than Modern Family. This movie seems to race past important things and linger on the unimportant. The story has no credibility and occasionally is bad. However, performances and some action partially redeem it and make it worth watching. So thanks, I think.

Bent is Every Disgraced Cop Movie Ever, which gives it such a bland, uninspired feel. The screenplay is filled with cliches and generic moments, beats, and characters. The acting is good, and the film looks solid, but it has nothing in it remotely interesting. It's doesn't have the story, characters, themes, or action that would make it even remotely involving for us.

Enjoyable action film is not especially distinguished, but as a throwback to the Norris-Bronson-Seagal cycle of the 1980s it is (somewhat) irresistible, especially for those with a soft spot for the genre. There's nothing here that hasn't been trotted out before, but Urban makes for a great stone-face hero and director Moresco keeps things moving along nicely. Only major problem is lack of a real 'Mr Big' villain to focus the plot.

The plot is actually more complex than it leads you to believe, with a few turns that are different from the run of the mill rugged former cop finding corruption stories. Not the movie of the year, but in the upper levels of mediocre, and it passes the time well.

Saçma sapan bir polisiye. Konu öyle bir saçmalıyor ki kim iyi kim kötü, sen kimsin, hangi polis iyi? Andy Garcia niye kılıbık? Sofia Vergara neci?, Niye karl urban la banyoda sevişiyor? Tamam aman ya hepsini öldürdüm? Neden? İyi polis yaşıyor yeter. Bu arada Karl Urban da Wolverine olayım derken Can Yaman'a dönüşmüş.

I do have a thing for decent cliché genre pieces. I do have a considerably smaller thing for amateurishly bad ones, though... The only thing I actually liked was the ending.
