For what Bertolucci seems to wanna do with this one, I don't think he's successful in finding a strong enough emotional core to carry and make me care during all those silent'ish sequences and musical manipulations - towards an ending that would have been a lot better if what came before it wasn't so empty. *Preview*: #13#, exp-3*, story, (reviews), director Bertolucci/1, Thandie.N/6, R2.

Pure film, telling a story with georgous pictures almost exclusivly, only fails in that personally i'm so used to being told exactly what to think i missed fully half of what was going on. A sharper person would have followed this unlikely romance better & understood the conflict, which i missed. Extrodinary and intelligent.
