Rather disappointing for Costas-Gravas, but a pretty good film for almost anyone else. Berenger and Winger are both pretty good in this.

Underrated late 80's thriller. Over-the-top but entertaining and eally hits a sweet spot for me in terms of how it looks. Loved the opening credits sequence. And Berenger and Winger are both really good.

Not a big movie, and not totally credible, either, but very tense right to the last minute.

Not so bad, but very far from Costa-Gavras's usual level of filmmaking. The forced romantic triangle, the tacky little girl subplot, and most especially the distracting stupidity of Debra Winger's character, are only some of the script's major problems. An interesting cast includes "Silence of the Lambs"'s Buffalo Bill, and Frasier's dad. I couldn't shake how much John Heard and Albert Hall (as the FBI agents) resemble William Hurt and Sidney Poitier.

You can say this for Eszterhas: he was the first Hollywood screenwriter to attempt a warning in the wake of Alan Berg's murder. He knew Nazism well, and this is kind of interesting in its portrayal of homegrown American fascism borne of capitalist rape (and, uh, class resentment). It even features what is likely the first on-screen depiction of racist radicalization on the internet. And yet the mechanics of the plot are so phony and contrived as to kill the whole thing. Some awful dialogue, too
