Nothing but a sappy, predictable and bland Disney family comedy. The concept is getting a little bit too old now.

Isn't terrible. OK, it's kind of terrible, but it's a talking-dog movie, and anyone who goes to a talking-dog movie without being prepared to step in poop deserves to ruin his shoes.

I think people are getting too upset at a film which so fervently goes at its absurd premise. But in truth, even the film's enthusiasm was inadequate. See that poster? Imagine what a great movie that would've been.

Yes, it's cheesy that the animals talk, but if you get over that, it has a cute storyline (which I was surprised of since I hate chihuahuas!) The actors that actually appeared as humans in the film strangely did a worse job [in my opinion] than the voice actors.

I never thought I'd hear "Whoomp! (There It Is)" in a movie ever again! I was sadly disappointed that the utterly brilliant musical number of the teaser trailer didn't carry over into the film at all. Talk about a missed opportunity. While certain lines and plot points don't make a ton of sense, it has enough "cute" factor to at least entertain children.

The start of the movie steam rolls straight through until we're in Mexico. Once there the movie becomes funny and enjoyable. It was much better than I originally expected. Yet, if they would have just fleshed out the beginning a little more, it could have been even better.

Never reinvents the wheel, and if you know it is a Disney film about a lost pet, you can fill in the blanks; it helps in this case that the blanks are so charming, with an array of photogenically cute animals on display, highlighted by Garcia’s wonderfully soulful Delgado. Barrymore is not quite bitchy enough to sell the opening scenes, but becomes a more endearing presence once the story kicks into gear. Forgettable human performances don't detract, though Curtis is always a welcome presence.

The dogs may be cute, but the story is rather rank. The voice cast does a good job, as do the live actors, but the jokes are rather stale and the story wanders. Predictable to say the least. If you want to watch a Disney movie about dogs, I recommend 1989's Oliver & Co. instead.

Comparable to watching eighty minutes of a toy poodle in your mother's underwear smashing your little sister's face with a glass ashtray, then drowning her in a bath full of bleach.

I am very glad I did not pay money to see this in theaters. It's sad when you can tell from the previews that the film is fluff and nothing else. That's exactly what it was. Very poor.

Clunky class comedy/journey home story -with cgi mouthed dogs. Between JLC and some surprisingly nice shots of Mexico City there's allot of wasted talent here.

Now guess what - if you animate a dog's mouth you can appear to lipsync and it's like it's talking.... Imagine what hilarity could ensue. Tired and rather laboured premise which can't save this film. A five minute short packed into 90 minutes.

NO. And not because of the premise. Because of the lack of sincere follow-through on the premise. This movie could have hard heart.

And I should say here that most of the film's "examples" are actually quite positive in and of themselves. When Chloe is forced to make new friends south of the border, she learns valuable lessons about embracing her roots and humbly accepting friends for who they are, for instance. So I guess I really don't consider Beverly Hills Chihuahua a "short-straw" movie. It's too cute and cuddly for that. And it packs powerful, kid-friendly messages of loyalty, friendship, acceptance and courage.

Substract the family problems and add a human romance and you'll have the "Marmaduke" in a chihuahua version. *SPOILER START* It teaches that boys who care about a girl and help her are thrown away for the ones who only say cute stuff but do nothing.Sick message :/ Another message is "be proud for who you are" and third one "cute ladies can be stupid and do anything, there's always a male who will help".Chloe's so hopeless during most of the movie that it's ridiculous. Delgado's the only one ok.

This is an enjoyable movie with the main actors being talking dogs. I'm not sure what makes a good talking dog movie, if anything. Light fun completely silly.

Completely formulaic talking animal film. Hard to review because absolutely nothing happens that isn't straight out of the Disney family movie step-by-step guide. OK, it's a kids' film but even they will find this dull and predictable.

First of all, this is a kids movie made by WALT DISNEY. If you go into it expecting anything more, you WILL be more than disappointed. It's kind of fun to see the dogs dressed up, but once the movie gets rolling along, action sequences suffer from bumbling "bad guys" and "bad animals" that don't seem threatening. This, of course, is because Chihuahua is a CHILDRENS MOVIE. However, the thing that annoyed me most was Drew Barrymore's annoying voice. She was the voice of Chloe (leading pooch).

The Chihuahua is a toy fit only for a handbag and evolution will see that its legs wither away as its relationship with rich and vacuous women continues. The question is: which will be the host and which will be the symbiote in this damnable fusion of dog and human ? Which one will get to keep the rudimentary brain? That is what I was thinking about while watching this film.

OMG!!! Piper Perabo has an enormous mouth! Every piece of advertisement for this film is completely misleading. "Cute" does not equal good.
