There's a hint of noir style here, resulting in some of the film's few good moments, but overall it's just too silly to enjoy on any level besides camp. Any movie of this era that attempts to tackle psychiatry invariably simplifies it far too much, both the condition and the cure. A lot of the plot is just too convenient and/or unexplained and there's not much dramatic tension. Thaxter does a fairly good job in the lead, no one is very satisfying, including Trotter as the alter ego's voiceover.

Schizophrenian love story, Ends in death. I'm not sure it worked, but this is a Hollywoodian way to raise mental health awareness. Bewitched (1945) definitely created a different atmosphere with it's hypnotizing brainwash as evil takes over the mind. Phyllis Thaxter delivers a different kind of performance in which arouses curiosity. Becomes a little too educational toward the end, but this was a interesting take on madness.

The multiple personalities genre is littered with bad movies, and this. The fact that it's super rushed is a good thing, though, because it's barely over an hour, so at least it's short. By far the most interesting aspect is the very beginning, which I would criticize as an especially blatant Twilight Zone ripoff if it hadn't pre-dated it by over a decade. Can safely be avoided.
