It's on par with those bog standard animated features about animals escaping zoos or birds visiting the jungle or whateverthehell lets the kids keep quiet for 90 minutes. While some of the designs are nice, everything's just so lazy and predictable. The name 'San Fransokyo' perfectly encapsulates the low standards of creativity here. Or maybe I'm too bitter to ignore Disney's uninspired cash-grab targeting Asian markets and little kids that like superheroes and robot toys.

Really good animated movie. While I, for one, am getting sick of 3D animated movies (what ever happened to 2D animation people?), Big Hero 6 serves as a true work of family fun and action at best, with good eye candy, a story that isn't too predictable (mostly), some true emotion, funny humor that made me laugh, and, of course, the adorable Baymax. Recommended indeed.

The first half or so is hilarious, and Baymax is a big reason for that. The movie shifts once the superhero sections really get underway and sacrifices its humour (for the most part) for action and emotion. There's an incredibly dark but effective scene scattered in there, and most everything works. It's formulaic but tackles some pretty mature elements with finesse and charm. Also; great animation.

While the story is nothing new (it is a comic book movie, after all), this movie has lots of heart, and it's filled with fantastic little details - humorous, emotional, and visual - that give it high rewatchability. Well worth your time.

Big Hero 6 was a really fun ride of a movie. It overcomes the challenge of being the umpteenth superhero origin story of the last decade by filling in the margins with a unique setting and visuals, funny characters, and a great script.

Another awkward attempt by #disneysowhite to pander to their audiences in Asia, but ultimately little more than a fantastical wet-dream squelched forth by people who've learned all about the Far East from bi-weekly ramen runs to Little Tokyo, several play-throughs of Persona Dancing All Night, and a Spotify playlist filled with torrented Utada mp3s.

Bears a striking similarity to the Power Rangers if you think about it really carefully. You've got the Red Ranger who's the leader of the team. The Blue Ranger who's obviously a closeted homosexual. The attractive Pink Ranger who everyone secretly wants to bone. The Yellow Ranger who's the feistiest of the lot, and the Black Ranger whom they slapped a green suit on to avoid racial stereotyping.

People are very caught up in the idea of "This movie is derivative of this and that" (as if themes, ideas, even plot structures, have to be 100% original to be good). There IS such a thing as "convention done well", and if that's the case here, so be it. I really enjoyed myself, and didn't expect to as much as I did. The animation's great, it's really funny, it's high-tech but the story & characters are grounded. If you've become so jaded as to get no enjoyment from THIS, stop watching movies.

Blandy McBlandFace and his PC hacks have been at it again. First Hollywood came for stupid Asians with 'Pacific Rim' and now they're back for their stupid kids, with another glorified robot centric toy commercial. I really started hating it when one of the girl sidekicks used the catchphrase "Woman up!", just to remind us all, that the producers want to assure little girls, that they can one day be men too. Anyway, fuck this movie. If your kids need me I'll be in the corner with Team Gremlins.

Yes, it tells the tale of a group of science geeks who use their gifts to battle evil in a city-crunching finale. But it consistently delivers the sense that there's more at play than that. It's less about powered-up whiz-bang and more about "somebody has to help." It's less about superheroes and more about exploring the idea that a diverse group of friends become something of a makeshift support system--a family--for a kid who's lost everything and everyone. Not bad, but just not quite good. It's like a mix of the Iron Giant and the Incredibles, but not nearly as strong as either. For being a team superhero film in name, most members of the team were ignored in favor of the brothers and their robot. Decent, but not great.

Felt like a bad made for tv computer animated movie from the 90's. The movie has more plot holes than a 70's porn. Our hero the 14 year old Eurasian wunderkind Hiro single-handedly inventing a workable version of nano-robots for a school project. An invention that will change the wold. However he then apparently completely forgets how to make them, even though that would have made his life a lot easier... I could go on, but let's just say I was not impressed. DISAPPOINTED!!!

Fantastic from start to finish. Baymax is an amazing character and i loved the setting and Firefly like combination of cultures. Hopefully there will be more of this to come. Marvel apparently can't do any wrong when they aren't quite being Marvel. The one thing that would have possibly have improved it is if Jay Mewes had voiced Fred, couldn't get past the fact that the character looked like him.

The general story is decent, the characters are nice and diversified, and the setting is wonderful and clever. However, we get rushed into the third act and climax so fast, I didn't even realise we were there. It needed more build-up and development of both the characters and the story. The animation is vibrant and strikes a pretty good mix between realistic and cartoonish. I had fun with it, but unfortunately, it's a bit too flawed in order for it to become an animated classic.

Baymax is an adorable character, the villain is visually intimidating (if a little undercooked) and all the set pieces hit their marks. I'm coming up short on really obvious flaws, but that's because this is a movie that avoids making mistakes by avoiding risks. There doesn't need to be anything particularly surprising or ambitious in a Disney blockbuster like this, but there's a point where you wish it had something more. Good fun but I've seen it all before.

Visually stunning and a fair story thats quite effective at times. My score really relies on these two aspects because of it ridiculous amount of flaws and cliches. I KNOW its a cartoon, but still there are only so many times a scene can play out EXACTLY how you'd expect in a movie before you just start to roll your eyes. disney has had their hand in a couple different super hero movies and generally they have a more fun and comedic feel to them. big hero 6 is charming, just like one would expect out of a disney movie, yet it places fun and action in the place of the comedy of the incredibles and megamind. it's not bad, it's just different and that's something i can get behind, but the biggest problem here is that it's followed in the footsteps of some great movies and is just too somber to appeal to all equally.

Big Hero 6 is one of the best animated films of 2014 and it's pleasing to see Disney continue their recent run of form following the success of 'Wreck it Ralph' & 'Frozen'. The animation is stellar, the setting of San Fransokyo is stunning and the story telling impressively balances adventure, humour and peril. And Baymax in particular has become and instant favourite Disney character for many. Disney have recaptured what it takes to make a film that will entertain and please the whole family.

As far as recent super hero films go, this is one of the better ones. Disney, animated, a bit of light humor, based on a Marvel comic, with a gamut of colorful characters and some elements that really tug the heart-strings reminiscent of Up. The animated action sequences were well done. It follows a pretty formulaic approach to the story, but it's a kid's movie at heart, so not something you can totally penalize it for.

Scott Adsit as Baymax and TJ Miller were both quite funny. The visuals, and in particular the city itself, were really nice. Otherwise, though, it was mediocre. Our hiro creates one of the most groundbreaking technologies ever during the course of the first 10 minutes of the movie via montage for a science fair! Then there are some horribly ineffective and overly manipulative emotional scenes, even for Disney.

With the help of some wacky friends--and a deadpan health-care robot, Baymax (Scott Adsit)--he forms a superhero team to defeat the villain and learn the truth. Bright Disney animated adventure, which makes for a rather unoriginal story (and underdeveloped characters) with a great sense of fun, colorful design, and fine voice acting.

Most of the points here go to the animation and setting (which were incredibly expressive and rather beautiful at points), and also to Baymax (who has to be one of the most lovable new Disney characters). Otherwise, the rest of this movie is entirely predictable and a by-the-numbers origin story for characters who are charming, but unfortunately very underdeveloped. Plot points come and go with little consequence, and classic Disney family-death melodrama is heaped onto a mediocre story. Meh

Big Hero 6 is a success on most levels. It works as an emotional roller coaster, a visceral thrill ride, a wonderful comedy, and contains some stunning animation. You want more from it after it ends. It takes a bit too long to get going -- I would have liked some of that time allocated to longer superhero sections -- and it's occasionally cheesy, but these don't really hinder it. You'll want to give it, and its most marketable character, Baymax, a hug after all's said and done.

Smooth, easy-to-take Disney entry is almost too smooth and calculated – resembling a pasteurised IRON GIANT, there’s not a great deal that happens in the plotting or characterisations that will come as a surprise to anyone who has seen a Disney film before; while Baymax is endearing, he lacks a distinctive personality or style that would distinguish him from the cliched “innocent” side-kick. Pretty stupid action movie made for young boys. I expect better from Disney. This had no appeal for older audiences. Watch Avengers instead of this.
