A non-fiction film that explores the alleged last tour of Leonard Cohen in the beginning of the 1970's. The film follows the principles of cinema verité in its portrayal of Cohen as well as in its way of capturing the mood of these "last" concerts. A moving and very personal story evolves to the tunes of So Long Marianne and other classics alike. (Summary by Kaptajnen)

One of those rare 'how did I ever manage to get by without having experienced this before?'-life changing eye openers. Cinema verite at its finest and a brief yet truthful and magic glimpse at what defines the poetic and musical genius that is Leonard Cohen.

Cohen hits on the ladies, and sings with them, and takes a shower, and swims naked in a pool, and tries to appease the bouncers, and asks a German audience "do you want total war?", and breaks down over the personal songs he wrote, and cries, and reads bad poetry, and just doesn't quite get that feeling, and can't shed his skin.

You gotta hand it to Kaptajnen, that's a damn fine summary! Also: watch this film.

Leonard Cohen is an artist close to my heart. His music is something I've inherited through my mother's breastfeeding. She saw one of his concerts in the 70s here in Norway and the electricity failed, so Cohen took his guitar and placed himself on the grass outside and continued the session there. A remarkably unique artist, who you get a deeply fascinating intimate portrait of here during his 1972 European tour. Highly recommended, especially for Cohen fans of course!
