Yes, they go full furry within fifteen minutes. It had more to say, or at least more resonated with myself, than The Bird People in China but I still prefer that. That might be familiarity bias or it might be that The Bird People sticks the landing. Anyone?

good movie

Interesting, a bit weird, not that boring- but just not memorable or inspiring.

The flashbacks are much more interesting than the angsty awards-bait of the mental asylum sections, and they slowly move to the background as the movie goes along so it gets a bit insufferable in the third act. Birdy is a pretty fascinating character at first, but his obsession gets so absurd there's a point at which I became more sympathetic to all the people calling him a nut who needed to get out of the house. Cage is good.

This is one strange movie that works. Nicolas Cage and Matthew Modine are best friends. Modine comes back from war and thinks he's a bird. Cage has to try to bring him back to reality. Unique and well done drama.

An effective small film. Back when Nick Cage concentrated on acting instead of gambling.

A good punchline, but was it really worth the two-hour buildup?

Cage and Modine both have chemistry in this very solid drama piece that fully captured my attention and man did I love that ending.

I've seen this on cinema some time ago and I remember it as a touching interpretation of a wonderful book. It's worth watching. Love it! This is a movie I'd like to watch again some day.

Score based on distant memory.

If you like the two main leads, and want to watch them preening and trying to act like they aren't acting, like some kind of film school project, then here ya go.

sensational film...directed by the same man who directed the Wall...Weird stuff...Two young actors really shine as a couple of messed up vietnam vets....

If nothing else watch it because of the soundtrack.

Interesting film very strange.

The script has some good moments and a few boring ones. There are no interesting parts for women in this entire film. This movie works because of the chemistry and the performances of the 2 lead actors. The leads work very well together and that helps overcome the scripts limitations. Overall I would recommend this film.

A somewhat decent movie about friendship, war, teats, and birds (not necessarily in that order). The buildup is slow, but it pokes you in the gut regularly enough to keep your attention all the way to the awesome ending...and yeah, it was that good.

Very good stuff, Modine and Cage play wonderfully off each other and the ending is precious!
