Bite the Bullet

Desptite the cast of thousands, this is a mediocre film. For sure there are plot surprises, but they are few and far between. It is an adequately filmed western with good acting. I'd rate it higher if the plot were a git more engaging and the characters more fleshed out.

Slow, overlong, serious, absolutely respectable old fashioned character based western adventurer. Somehow, not fun enough nor deep enough. Plus: In love with horses. MVPs: Alex North, Fresholtz-Overton-Piantadosi-Tyler.

Respectable to a fault, despite some revisionist pretensions and sub-Peckinpah slow-mo. The race itself is designed and staged so sluggishly you will be tempted to drift towards its allegorical significance, but that way not nearly enough madness lies.

Looks great but for a "Cannonball Run with Horses" this is surprisingly slow and dull.
