Bitter Victory

This is pretty good in part because of the lead cast.

Little seen and very under-rated. A study of class, leadership and loyalty set in the Second World War as two officers (Burton and Jurgens) contrasting styles impact on the success of their mission and the lives of their men. Well played, thought provoking and worth watching.

A couple scenes really fucked me up. "It's written for everyone to die"

An incredibly British psychological war drama from Nicholas Ray. I probably have more appreciation for this film than fondness. It's possible that the protagonists could have been more sympathetic, despite the fact that they are intentionally flawed characters.
