Promises to be a solid tribute to blaxploitation cinema and a parody as well, and it truly is. No, seriously. The cinematography and directing feel and look just like something you watched in the 1970s. The editing in this film is just hilarious and the dialogue is as well. It's short, funny, meticulous, and profound. If you're looking for a great time with fun performances and silly dialogue, this will most definitely do the trick.

Pitch perfect blaxploitation parody that was obviously a labor of love. It gets everything right: cinematography, the montages, the goofy stunts, the Dolemite-like sloppiness (boom mikes everywhere!), the overt sexism, etc. all ring incredibly true. Jai White pulls off the hypermacho and super suave hero amazingly well, and the film just keeps upping the ante until the hysterical climax. If you have any fondness for the blaxploitation genre, you really need to see this.

This is my favorite action comedy of all time. And yet I'm angry that it didn't lead to bigger things for the filmmakers. They fully understood blaxploitation, and created a movie which overflows with all the righteous anger and fun reflected in those Nixon era pictures. But it is also one of the best made faux-retro films I've ever seen (easily surpassing something like The Artist) as it seamlessly captures the period's look & sound. And the screenplay is endlessly quotable. Highly recommended.

A spoof movie done right! This is what a soundtrack should sound like. The scene with the roundabout discussion that led to what was really going on was so great. People are gonna be quoting this one for a long time. I THREW THAT SHIT EVEN BEFORE I WALKED INTO THE ROOM! Now this shit was hilarious, watching Black Dynamite take down the nefarious. After watching the intro, I knew what I was in fo'. Laughs abound and action plenty, enough in this movie to not feel empty. Taking it to the old days with Blaxploitation, keeping it real after Abe's Emancipation. Michael Jai White, never forgave him for Spawn; now have because Black Dynamite never made me yawn. If they ever make a sequel, i'll be first in line; too bad movies in these days only cost a dime.

Blacker than the ace of spade, smoother than Richard Roundtree, Black Dynamite is one cool, badass mothafucka. Describing this film without giving too much away is quite a challenge, but the makers have somehow come up with a delicious blend of genre tribute, trope deconstruction and exuberant pastiche. Michael Jai White is pretty much amazing as BD. This movie also made me crave some waffles; w/ butter.

Provides numerous chuckles to those who are familiar with blaxploitation films--even if not, you can laugh several times at this film. For the most part, it even takes the parody too far, sacrificing laughs for the sake of being genuine. It has great action, and good catch lines. So for any action friendly viewer, this is a good watch, and the comedy guys will find merit too.

A few bum scenes, but this is a damn fine, smartass tribute to blaxploitation film. It captures the aesthetics and quality (our hero must contend not only with the relentless plots of whitey but obtrusive boom mikes and cue-missing colleagues), but its really great ideas are taking its predecessors' flirtation with speaking to political power up a notch and implicitly condemning their unapologetic misogyny & psychopathic vigilantism by magnifying them to a hilarious extent. Killer one-liners too

To be completely honest, one of the best satires of all time, right up there with the best of Zucker and Brooks. It's not simply script gags that make it funny, but capturing every bad nuance of the genre and what it's about - from errant boom mikes to kick-ass music to history revision driven by a libido only Black Dynamite can provide.

How many times have great movies been one-upped by their cartoon knockoff? The only reason I say that is because there's simply more of it in cartoon form. And it all goes down smooth. Black Dynamite is like a warm blanket that tickles you. And that's oddly reminiscent of my bearded uncle.

This takes skill. As a send-up of blaxploitation films, the movie doesn't just spoof the genre, it's also a stand-out example of it. There's so many in jokes here for film buffs that it will easily stand up to repeated viewings. This will be a new cult classic. This is a satire of blaxploitation which borrowed from noir, hong kong cinema, and 70's tv crime drama as well as being self referential. The jokes dragged a bit in certain parts but overall it was well written. There was even a nod to the Flying Guillotine in this. Michael Jai White is fantastic and it's too bad we don't see more of him in mainstream films.

Pitch-perfect timing and loads of laughs, up there with the best of Mel Brooks and the Zuckers. The humor is a nice balance of one-liners, absurd plot twists, and meta gags. The eerily authentic music and visuals transport the viewer straight to the 1970s, a feat which few serious period pieces can claim, let alone a ridiculous spoof.

Black Dynamite is, without a doubt, spoof of genius quality. In a time where we're swamped with films like Epic Movie and the like this is tremendously refreshing. While it pokes fun at the blaxsploitation genre it also pays homage to it as well instead of just lampooning it. Michael Jai White is an accomplished martial artist so the action scenes are incredibly impressive, and humourous, at the same time. This is hands down one of the best spoofs ever made and is a must see.

Perfectly executed in every way, shape, and form, "Black Dynamite" is truly loving parody of the unintentionally laughable Blaxploitation films of the 1970's, filled with all the production missteps, underdeveloped characters, and ludicrous plots that the genre almost entirely consisted of, while also managing to be a truly entertaining romp from beginning to end in its own right, as well. A film that truly has to be seen to be believed, and a cult classic for the ages.

Just when I had lost all hope, this little gem of a film came along and demonstrated that parody wasn't completely dead. The intentional production mistakes had me laughing even more than the dialogue. Memorable and endlessly quotable, this is one of the best comedies of the last decade.

This is a fantastic movie. It is a perfect parody of the blaxploitation films. I just randomly picked it up at the video store as a joke, but my friend called me on my bluff so we watched it. IT WAS FUCKING HILARIOUS. Then I watched the special features and they intentionally made "mistakes" to make it more like the old blaxploitation films. It has some of the most memorable scene from a movie in recent years. It also has plenty of action. More action movies should be like this.

Really amazing parody flick. Just when you think the genre is losing steam, Black Dynamite comes and kicks that notions jive-ass. It delivers more than consistent laughs, and aims high. This while providing more than a few memorable lines and scenes, this movie truly hits the bar it raised for itself and more, destroying any comparison and the genre its parodying. I generally don't enjoy movies that are going for the "so bad it's good" vibe, and I don't really care one way or another about Blaxploitation movies, but I loved Black Dynamite. I didn't expect to like it, but like 5 minutes into it I was laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath. That deserves bonus points. It's the best comedy I've seen in years and years.

"Black Dynamite" replicates the 70s blaxsploitation it's parodying so flawlessly that it's almost impossible to believe that it was made in 2009. Showing inspiration, and numerous references, from "Dolemite", it is not only one of the best that blaxsploitation has to offer but also one of the best comedies of the last decade. On a side note, I'm under the impression it doesn't benefit from multiple viewings.

Only jive-ass turkeys won't like this movie as it's incredibly funny. Like many parodies it can drag if there is a lull in humor or a few jokes don't hit. Luckily 91% (that's exact...I did the math) of the jokes in this movie do hit so it's only a problem at very few times. Deserves extra credit for the making the fake production screw-ups not feel staged (that rarely works). There are so many funny lines and moments that it will be worth a re-watch in the future.

Even if spoof movies these days weren't complete garbage, Black Dynamite would still shine through. Kung fu shodown with Richard Nixon? Check. A devious plan involving Malt Liquor that shrinks black men's penises and peddling smack to orphanages? Double check. Excellent cast (including Mykelti Williamson, who is amazing)? Yep. The movie is just hilarious, and the fact that it's faithful to old blaxploitation films is just icing. Must see for anyone who's a fan of spoofs.

The self-irony is so subtle that, at times, one forgets that one is watching a parody. Ultimately, it is its strongest and weakest quality--strongest because the straight-faced seriousness makes the satirical gags be more uproarious when they do occur--but that's the weakness, they don't occur often enough. The constant subtle jabs at the genre make for some great "oh that's clever" moments, but don't really translate into laughs.

I typically hate comedies, but this movie... this freaking movie. Quite possibly the funniest movie in the last 20 years. Incredibly quotable, really great subtle jokes blended with complete over the top silliness, and yet at the same time moments of sheer cool. There's only one scene that runs slightly long, and even that has a pretty good pay off. I could watch this movie every day and be happy, it's that fun.

Pretty funny, I definitely appreciated the approach of throwing in gags thick and fast but with a lot more variety and originality than your typical laugh-a-minute comedy. While it gets points for the humour, the story was not interesting enough to keep me hooked and the pacing was very patchy at times. But when a film can be clever and silly in the same moment... that's one of my favourite things.

Somewhere in the middle of this film, it drags a little. Now that I've made that clear, fucking forget it, because this is a magnificent genre parody almost on the level of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. If you ever liked ANYTHING about Blaxploitation films, you owe it to yourself to see this. A lot of hilarity and meta-ness throughout, and the final scenes are just incredible. I won't spoil the main showdown, but it fucking works on a lot of levels.

A lot better and funnier than expected. It makes excellent use of some lesser-known actors, and everyone does so well. The satire, the sets, the cinematography and the soundtrack are all so accurate that I found myself wishing they'd gone whole hog and filmed it in 4:3. Awesome character names, too.

Takes parody to its absurd limits. Lovingly made and a wonderful tribute to blaxploitation. The kind of film that you which you could have been on the set while it was made. Somehow, Michael Jai White joking around comes across cooler than most modern action stars.

A wonderful take on 70s blaxploitation that manages not only to perfectly ape the style of that genre, but also the plots, ridiculously monikered characters, and "acting". Funny and well-realized.

This is kind of in the same vein as Kung Pow, but with a theme of low-budget blaxploitation instead of general kung-fu. Every other line is really quotable, and the plot is as over-the-top as it should be.

Wow, this movie made me laugh until I couldn't breathe. Black Dynamite is hilarious on multiple levels, from subtle nuances of the characters quirky behaviors to the obvious overall theme of the film. The film work is even hilarious! This movie will be a comedic cult classic.

Very funny parody that takes a loving look back at the blaxploitation era. Perhaps it drags its heels a bit towards the end if I'm being very critical. Comfortably worth an 80+ though for several great scenes, in particular the brainstorm in the cafe and the line "Haha, I threw that shit before I walked in the room"... which at the point of its delivery, I preceded to piss my pants...

I haven't seen that much blaxpoitation, but I've seen enough to appreciate a good parody/homage. Black Dynamite pretty much nails it. The awkward edits, the sketchy production values, the soundtrack, the hair, the clothes, the utter disregard for continuity, the martial arts, the odd line readings. It's a smart, comprehensive send-up and tribute to the genre. And it's pretty fucking funny, too. Not every gag works, but enough of them do and even the ones that don't aren't awful or anything.

Overall Enjoyment: 40/40, Plot/Themes: 10/20, Cinematography/Direction: 15/20, Acting/Writing: 15/20 If you like silly bad-on-purpose crazy plot movies this is almost perfect. Highly quotable and a really enjoyable time.

I feel that i would have liked this a lot more if i recently did a study on blaxploitation films. However since I couldn't really relate to the spoof it was hard for me to enjoy it; needless to say it had some great one-liners and physical gags. Some scenes were all too reminiscent of "Top Secret", though.

This is a silly over the top spoof that is really enjoyable. Michael Jai White is great in the lead role and the supporting cast provides a lot of chuckles. Definitely check out this hilarious spoof.

Funny stuff, mixing the self awareness of being a parody B-movie with an earnest effort to pay homage to its sources. Guns that never run out of ammo, purposefully botched lines and a soul soundtrack where the lyrics double as narration. Black Dynamite has all the stuff that you would hope for in a Blaxploitation film, but runs a little long at the expense of the pacing and lapses into outright sillyness that seems more embarrassing than funny, but is still on the righteous side overall.
