Black Mountain Side

The idea was not novel but they started out well. At first I liked the contrast between what they let you imagine and what they show plain and brutally. But at some point it takes a dubious turn when they start explaining the mystery, and then it seems they have no clue what to do with their own movie or how to end it.

What the fuck was that ending even?

Its decent. Watched a second time just recently, still a pretty good low budge sorta deal that has a good quiet encroaching doom tone. feel i enjoyed it more this second time. Some bits are a bit silly, one guy weirdly over enunciates, some cliche is dialogue choices, and the creature effect looks.....well mega cheap, but it still entertained. Kinda trying to hit that lovecraftian niche here, and does a basic enough job i think. Not bad, give it a go.

Too slow but kind of intriguing, hence the 50/100.

I'm not really sure what happened at all. I'm a sucker for isolation stories and horror set in snow bound places so it's not a total loss

A familiar but intriguing plot and tone, yet it has been done better elsewhere. I needed the mystery to progress and coalesce, but it didn't. The brutal violence was the star.
