I enjoyed myself. It's well acted (Pugh being the real stand-out) and I was legitimately invested in the family stuff and learning more about Natasha's past. It's nothing groundbreaking. It feels fairly generic as a spy movie and more like filler than a proper send-off to the character, but I'm not all that upset about it. I wanted to be throughly entertained and engaged, and I was. Weak villains and familiarity aside, it's really not that bad. Good intro and character growth too.

This poor send-off to Black Widow calls into question whether she ever even had enough depth, and the actress enough charisma, to expect that she could hold us for two long hours. After a powerfully emotional opening, I struggled to engage with anything that followed. The producers were VERY bold to think they had a worthwhile super-spy adventure on their hands when Bond, Bourne, and Mission Impossible set the standard. "Because it's in the MCU," is the only real answer to "Why even watch this?"

Feels a bit pointless and filler-y. In the end, the movie doesn't leave much of an impression and lacks anything memorable. Felt like a mediocre Spy/Bond film with Marvel paint added to it. The fight sequences are passable but don't have much oomph. The bad guys are kind of just there for most of it. The family stuff is okay but even then there's some odd attempts at humour that don't work. Alot of flashbacks and strange editing choices. There's just nothing exciting in how the story plays out.

A surprisingly lazy and unexciting story about Black Widow('s replacement). And that's all. Yep. We're done here. I'm not going to, I mean... Ahem, sorry. I shouldn't... Damnit. I promised myself I wasn't going to mention how they totally butchered my boy Taskmaster. I've.. I've made my peace with it. It's fine, really. Its pleasingly simple story is complicated by the stick-up-ass that is the MCU, but this is Pugh’s movie anyway, and she and Harbour have fun with their little accents—and I’d take Red Guardian over Captain America any day ☭. Aside from some wonky physics, the action is enjoyable if unmemorable, and my other nitpicks are small, like continuity errors, noticed because Disney-Marvel deserves more criticism. So, a decent film altogether.

What I wanted: Cold War espionage and infiltration, a better Red Sparrow, sleeper agents. What I got: superhero by-the-numbers, frontal assaults, fisticuffs, bad accents, stuff blowing up. The family stuff and Harbour/Weisz was the most interesting. Pugh outshined Johansson but was underutilized. Film came out too late. Still too many butt shots but for the 1st time in awhile this didn't need 20 mins trimmed. Fav scene: Harbour reuniting with the girls on the plane.

Not bad but not worth the long wait. The writers make sure there's depth to the characterization, a new story to tell (the Avengers haven't been BW's only family), & the stakes are deeply personal. They only drop the ball w/ the comedy which didn't work for me. There is a visually stunning action climax (w/ some contrivances) but come on: we've seen more impressive John Wick & CA: Winter Solider fight scenes & Mission Impossible & Avengers action scenes. With this budget that's unacceptable.

While "Black Widow" is not the worst MCU movie yet, it's pretty darn close, let's not forget the Hulk adaptation with Ed Norton that nobody wants to talk about. The tried and true formula Marvel uses is here, and it's still effective, but the issue I take is that the character isn't all that super of a superhero, she's a glorified assassin in skin tight pleather, and while I'm certainly partial to skin tight pleather, Black Widow is just about the most boring Avenger, including Hawkeye.

I have to count myself among those who feel a little bad for this movie: it would almost certainly have been widely considered a smashing success if it had come out years ago (when it should have). I really enjoyed it personally, but it struggles to meaningfully move the MCU narrative forward, which I think is what people are looking for right now. All the same, ScarJo sends her Widow out with justice and flare. This is a victim of timing that deserves better than the reception it's getting.

Black Widow is... okay. Despite a decent start, too many mediocre creative choices (& possibly its many delays) result in a film that is underwhelming, forgettable & relatively unimpactful in the MCU. Included among the films many flaws: action scenes that are beyond the believability for the character with an overuse of CGI for combat; tiresome callbacks; questionable social commentary; a dull villain; & a lack of stakes. Weisz, Johansson & Pugh are great, while Harbour is just comic relief.

Pugh does really well here and the action scenes are often great but Johansson can't carry an entire film with such a bland uninteresting plot, Weisz is wooden, Winstone miscast and Harbour as always is terrible. Knowing this story influences nothing in the greater MCU timeline makes it feel like a made for D+ movie rather than a full blown MCU entry. Rabid BW fans may lap it up having waited for so long but the rest of us will be left feeling indifferent or worse after this lack luster effort.

Aside from being pointless and bland, Black Widow is filled with horrible/cringy dialogue, generic (and predictable villains) with some up and down family reunion elements. Too far and between does this film deviate from the limitations of the character of Black Widow as well, making action sequences hard to suspend some disbelief. Not to mention, the sequences themselves feeling out of place due to what feels like a very different and smaller scale. This would've been better as a show.

Stuck unsure between being funny or depressing. Perhaps the film aimed for both, thinking that the emotional back and forth would equal poignancy and impact. Actually, it should have gone for one or the other because in the end the jokes fell flat and the drama doesn't hit. Very ordinary.

Lots of action and extra points for Scarlett Johansson. Florence Pugh was also awesome. Other great cast members included Rachel Weisz, David Harbour and Olga Kurylenko made to look like a monster. The story had some bat-shit crazy elements, but I really enjoyed the strange family dynamics. Some scary good scenes and a few questionable ones. Lots of good fights. Good high quality production. Black Widow was unfortunately disappointing. It really shouldn't be like this. Because they did not attach any importance to an already overdue story in the MCU. They just said let's make this movie, let's get the Red Room out of the way, let it go, and made an ordinary action film. I'm not even getting into the Taskmaster disaster. Florence Pugh plays the only character in the movie that matters.

In another world, there's no MCU, and this is a stand-alone movie where you just have to cut out about 10 minutes of "Oh, right, gotta insert this into continuity somehow" fodder. That movie is a decent straight-up spy thriller with some pretty good fight scenes (which would have looked better if we hadn't seen them in other MCU movies), some great chemistry between Pugh and Johansson, and a crossover with The Americans that really needed a dad character with more than one joke.

The only scene that worked for me in this was Harbour and Pugh singing together. Those two, especially Pugh, give some energy to this lifeless corporate product. Johansson isn't capable of giving a bad performance, but it isn't anything new. What makes this one of the worst Marvel movies to date is some atrocious CGI and badly staged set-pieces. The story is standard bad side of Marvel with an interesting premise handled in the most boring way possible and a bad guy that nobody cares about.

Maybe the MCU break has been too long, but my expectations were above what was delivered. I'm rarely underwhelmed by the MCU, so it's a bit sad when it actually happens, maybe I'll remember to tone my expectations down next time. I hate it when russians speak english together with fake russian accents, it's just weird. The whole final sequence was very weird, at least the post credits scene is an interesting setup.

Flirts with being a spy thriller for about half-an-hour before dumping that and just going straight for MCU formula (though this is mercifully lighter on quips and callbacks). Completely flat, forgettable, and over-edited, but above all, numbingly dull. Cinema is back!

Good first half. Then lost its way and ended in mindless forgettable over the top action. It also doesn't feel like the character actually went through all this between films and is the same character we see in infinity war. Probably would have benefited from being a smaller story. I didn't buy in to the family reunion side to the story.

It's a great movie released at the wrong time. I understand those who might say that it loses something because it should have been released years ago, but as a film it does everything that the MCU movies do. Kind of underuses Taskmaster which sucks, but it was still a thrilling movie. Those opening credits, with the Smells like Teen Spirit cover, were haunting and emotional. The rest is just kind of a fun spy/action movie that doesn't break the mold but I don't care, I was into it.

Who would refuse to see a movie that doesn't explain any plot twist? Who the hell deny the beauty of a movie that filled with hundreds of inconvenient scenes? It's kind of interesting how the MCU now does different sub-genres and I like the spy thriller angle here. Pugh is fantastic and all of the family drama here is done well, especially the comedic aspects. This is perhaps the best acting to feel wasted in the MCU. Black Widow is more filler than it should have been, and there's a large part of me that feels this character might have been better served without this particular film or even any backstory at all. Florence Pugh is the best in this and in many ways, this film served more as an introduction to Yelena (dat post-credits scene was uuugh tho). I loved the fake soviet spy family drama and kinda got a bit emotional with Harbour and Weisz, while the action was sort of generic: various cities devastated, etc, etc. So a typical movie that suffers from Marvelitis: a few great elements, but mostly the same old recipe.

The narrative is a little slapdash and it’s several years late, but the family stuff worked and Pugh is an inspired piece of casting. Gender-bending and changing Taskmasters origin will no doubt get the fanboys frothing at the mouth, and for once they may have something of a point since the changes add nothing of note. That aside I liked this. A bit messy, but solid popcorn fun, well cast and lots of silly accents.

Quite possibly the most cookie cutter, rote Marvel film they have done yet. There are fun moments and setpieces, but other than Florence Pugh being great and David Harbour being funny, it's just cardboard and styrofoam. While I wouldn't have expected Widow to form the basis of a pumped-up tribute to the Roger Moore Bond films, it fits her like a glove as the unflappable centre that the daffy absurdism revolves around. Handled with aplomb by Shortland, drawing fine performances from her cast. Winstone would never pass muster as a threatening villain (even in Moore's world), otherwise the grand scale and design of sets and action sequences make this one of the most enjoyable of the recent MCU movies.

I'm a little conflicted with this movie. I think the idea is pretty cool, but I also think it feels like the sequel to the actual Black Widow prequel we never got, that was originally planned when they were making Avengers 1, with Hawkeye, that I would have loved to see. I also think David Harbour's character was underutilized, and Scarlett didn't quite feel as engaged with the role as she has been in the past. That said, I loved Florence Pugh in this and can't wait to see more from her.

Yeah, the criticisms from fans are fair. This would’ve been better if released between Civil War and Infinity War, and the handling of Taskmaster is a bit odd. That being said, my main issue is the pacing. The second act is pretty much just a slow drama that’s a drag to get through, which kills the rewatchability of this. Otherwise, action is decent, first act is great, and I’m interested in seeing more of Pugh going forward. It’s in my bottom 5 MCU films, but it’s still pretty good.

A terrible time to make a solo Black Widow film. The interesting characters were underdeveloped, the villain sucked, and the terrible action sequences didn't make any sense in a movie that should have been a lot more Bourne and a lot less Fast and Furious. Until the 3rd act where it's filled with people falling through a CGI sky with bad CGI explosions on top of bad CGI green screen. It saddens me to say this, but this is the worst MCU movie (yup, Captain Marvel was way better, to my surprise) It's pointless and dull and arrived 10 years too late. The entire thing is very underwhelming to say the least, and the only reason this exists is because of a promise made years ago to Scarlett Johansson that she'd get her own stand alone film (also to usher in a new Black Widow) Natasha is invincible now? The comedy may be very cringy at times, especially around the infuriatingly annoying Red Guardian, there may be a few too many contrivances and formulaic plotlines, but despite that, the opening is amazing, this story has so much heart and seeing Widow center stage at long last really does live up to the hype. The family dynamics have good hooks and the chemistry is there. The dinner scene is decent enough and I was at least interested in the conflict that existed between the family. But the final act was a mostly dull MCU flopfest that I found it difficult to care or take seriously its villains. Worse is that the conflict between the family was resolved in the laziest way possible, having an emotionless set piece ease the tension than characterization. it's pretty decent, considering the fact nobody from mcu (barring johansson) show up. it's basically a stand alone movie, nevertheless, the action is almost on par with captain america trilogy. it starts off strong, then devolves into the standart marvel comedy routine, although it never gets off track. unfortunately, it would have made a greater impact if it had come out 5 years ago. that said, yelena is a great addition to mcu, a lot more likable than natasha. hope to see her more in phase 4.

It was a bit haphazard in the beginning (but I really enjoyed the Smells like Teen Spirit cover in the opening credits), but it became gradually better. + This was one of the best 4D movies I've ever seen.

good ol' American family values triumph over (post-) Soviet brainwashing. still, at least it's a relatively self-contained movie for the MCU

Story is a bit bleak and hollow, but the action was somewhat captivating.

A perfectly passable but otherwise generic entry in the Marvel Universe. I'm not really sure what the Red Room is supposed to be, but it's evidently hiding in the sky in some random place where it is always cloudy. Big drawback: What was the point of the fight between the two female leads?

Loved Florence Pugh in this one. It was too late to change the over-sexualized portrayal of Nat, but they did a great job setting up Yelena and giving her depth.

Avengers ailesinin kadın kahramanı Black Widow'un macera filmi. Bu sefer 2 kız kardeş, yaratıldığı dünyaya karşı intikamını alacaklar. Aile bağları ile tanıştığımız film, aksiyon sahneleriyle seyirciyi aldatıyor. Yeni karakter güzellikler sağlasa da, öykü yarım yamalak anlatımı filmi düşürüyor. Filmin sonunda, sanki Star Trek. Ablam daha iyi bacak ayırıyor.
