Having recently lost her sight, Ingrid retreats to the safety of her home - a place where she can feel in control, alone with her husband and her thoughts. But Ingrid's real problems lie within, not beyond the walls of her apartment, and her deepest fears and repressed fantasies soon take over. (imdb)

The greatness about Vogts directing-debut: It's a great story that comes right from the heart, just like Vogts scripts and works with Joachim Trier. He just owns his wirting. But you can tell this story only with the possibilites of moviemaking. Blind is a salute to his characters as well as to his artform. (And the black guy on a bicycle, she isn't able to see, becaus, you know, she is blind, is hilarious!) Vogt (&Joachim Trier) are by far the most intriguing figures in world-cinema right now.

if you decide to see it (it involves the writer of OSLO AUGUST 31ST, the cinematographer of DOGTOOTH and an enticing lead performance, so do consider it), i'd suggest, y'know, going in blind. that said... i really enjoy its thoughtful phenomenological approach to conveying blindness, but once the conceit is parsed there isn't much to it that hasn't been explored in more depth elsewhere. the blindness is barely relevant by the end, it's just another metaphor for her bland marital crossroads.

An uncomfortable movie to watch, in some great ways. Vogt presents a vibrant story of a woman robbed of her life but still being made to live in it, alongside her worst neuroses and insecurities. The subtle terror of knowing sight but not being able to see, playing out in now-agonizing mundane days, forcing the deeper personality to the surface. Few can fully relate, but it's done remarkably well. Ingrid is a tragedy, and Petersen plays her to subtle perfection. Challenging, but see it for sure.

What struck me was the natural use of light in the apartment (cfr. Dogtooth). The little light-nuances by the moving of the clouds that can not be seen by Ingrid, only be felt. I think this idea makes the movie so vulnerable beautiful.

It’s a good story told in a really challenging and complex way, dropping you into the perspective of an unreliable narrator who’s writing her own misfortunes into being. I suppose that going blind is enough to turn someone into a cynic.

Nicely shot and edited. The story is interesting until you figure out what's happening. Overall, meh. Disappointing work from Eskil Vogt, after a masterpiece like Oslo, August 31st.

Had no idea Vogt directed his own film. It essentially carries over the cerebral writing of his films with Trier but with a Kaufman-esque framing. I think its just a few ingredients shy of greatness but contains many moments of profound vulnerability.

Slaps reality around like a looney tunes cartoon, while making a movie both pretty and thought-provoking out of it.

did a really cool job using "unreliable narrator" tricks to let you feel what it's like to be blind and not know certain things for sure, but the story itself kind of sucked.

Strong directorial debut from Vogt who manage to keep his unique, melancholic storytelling without Trier. We follow a woman's struggle adjusting to being blind, it's an intelligent play between reality and fiction and it's through Ingrid's fictional characters we truly get to know her fears, anxieties and fantasies any individual can relate to, regardless of health. Petersen delivers an authentic and strong performance which this profound movie depends on.

She's blind and bored of her husband so she starts writing "around" her life on her laptop - this is to spare you the initial confusion. Not bad, not good either. As a first-time director, Vogt shows respectable ability - it's nicely shot and edited - but as a long-time writer, I think this only hints at his potential. There are many moments, but on the whole the story is just not as strong as something like Oslo, August 31.

Very, very compelling film. Watch out for some dirty images here and there and then prepare to get shocked by the way each scene and piece of dialogue melds into each other with disorientating deliciousness. For a film that, like Ingrid, doesn't seem too intent on going anywhere the effect is delightful. It's a different kind of Eternal Sunshine, with more full frontal nudity.

Fantastic and daring. Really somehow puts you in the shoes of someone that's blind while not making it a gimmick. It's a movie that screws with your perspective. Takes what is almost a horror premise and makes it an interesting and almost fun movie.
