Focuses on the patient cultivation of the ability of the youngest students to attend to their surroundings, and in general on the way teachers pay attention to their students in order foster the latter's ability to pay attention. There is often a melancholy if not heartbreaking aspect, aware that the future these children face may be highly uncertain, but at the same time it seems to be an institution grounded in genuine care and the simple belief that it is possible to make a real difference.

The fourth of Wiseman's four films dedicated to documenting the institutional schooling of those who are deaf, blind and multi-handicapped (which is not to say, as this film shows, that these individuals are defined by these handicaps). This is not a film about the 'special' measures needed to 'accommodate' blind students, but rather a film about pedagogy. These students and teachers do what needs to be done in order to learn, with these pedagogies valuable for all who want to learn.
