The story of a poor gal who climbs her way to the top of the gang ladder and falls in love along the way in spite of herself. Has some snappy dialog of the type common in gangster movies of the era. But it has ambitions beyond that, getting darn close to sex as power, sex as beneficial crime. Blondie not only has to fight male kingpins, but she has to best their molls too.

A light gangster drama with Joan Blondell as the mob boss! Parter/rival in the gang is the strong chinned Chester Morris. This is too much a chick flick to be put in with the 1930s Warner Bros classics of the gangster genre. And it's clear it's a lesser effort from the studio. But Blondell gives it her best with what she's got to work with. Decent support too of well known and barely known character actors at the Warner lot. Easy popcorn entertainment and little else.
