Blood Hook

I don’t know man, this slasher craze is getting kinda stale what can we do that is different, we need a bloody hook. Oh shit. If this didn’t have a killer reveal and was instead just a sentient fishing rod I would’ve watched it again right after.

Oh brother, this movie stinks.

Great moments here and there, and never really boring, especially with a crowd.

Kind of charmingly stupid, but such a low-budget slasher film probably did not need to have a 20 minute longer extended cut (which is the version that I saw).

Production value was so low it was unbearable.

"This ain't no Japanese monster movie!" If only it were, instead of an American slasher movie about a fishing contest gone bad. Yes, it's got some neatly crazy ideas, but on a whole it's just too normal to be a successful Troma movie and too silly to be a successful horror movie.

Troma label and ridiculous concept were alarming, but this is actually a competently made, good looking flick and like the better regional horrors, it makes good use of the surroundings; in this case the cabins, lake and woods. It has a very peculiar sense of humor which surprisingly doesn't get too childish. Characters also have more depth than usual but that doesn't prevent them being killed. Biggest fault is the 110mins length which is too much, and I'd like to see how the shorter cut works.
