A poster child for bootstrap special effects - playful, grotesque, and inventive. The film gets off to a running start with an engrossing home-movie found-footage aesthetic (plus, our leads pick a fight with some Carnies, a horror movie equivalent of beating up the biggest guy in the yard on the first day in prison). It's too bad the plot didn't have the same gumption: when people die, the actors almost roll their eyes with an "I didn't see that coming" and frolick into their own death

Just too daft and boring to really hold the attention, although there were some interesting moments thrown in. The acting left a lot to be desired, but they were amateurishly charming in their own way. The old fairground guy turned up as the landlord in Shaun of the Dead...that was bugging me all the way through. Nonsense.

A very inventive movie from an effects point of view. A lot of different techniques are used, ranging from prosthetics to squibs to in-camera effects, to create a battery of supernatural scare sequences. Wannabe directors will love the film for its zany creations like table monsters and hungry soup vats. However the acting is atrocious and there is no logical progression binding the wacky stunts together. The story barely makes any sense. Sadly the result is more tedious than fun to watch.

I wanted to like this, given how British camp horror is a rather shockingly rare sublet of film & New Year's horror is just as if not more rare, but I couldn't get into it. The cast does okay with what they're given, but the story is just nonsense without any rhyme or reason to it & the ending was pretty bleh. A few neat effects & a little bit of kooky charm, but never quite enough to make for a very entertaining ride. Still, I'm not sad I at least gave it a shot.

This was just fun, I know it's not good but I had a good time.

One of the best VHS covers of all time that fits the weird, surreal vibe of the film (where I feel Vinegar Syndrome went wrong is making the cover seem like it’s more of a slasher than it is) The carnival scenes at the start are all very vibrant and colourful, even through the damaged film this had to go off of(Vinegar Syndrome saved this thing really). While it meanders a bit the location and the fact it’s shot entirely on daylight make it an unsettling and surreal affair.
