Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll

If The Beguiled had traded Civil War for Giallo Killer and Clint Eastwood for John Belushi lookalike Paul Naschy, you'd be looking at this film. Focus shifts onto the mystery angle of who the killer is and I started to lose interest. I really cannot stress how much Paul Naschy looks like John Belushi. At one point he dons a sword but he isn't in a deli. Anyways the movie has some decent gore, but man oh man he looks like John Belushi. I want to buy him a sweatshirt that just says, "College."

Quite a saucy little number this. Given that it is Spanish (albeit there seems to be a lot of French touches present), does this qualify as a giallo, the genre with which it shares so many traits? Amarillo, maybe? Naschy is good value for money, there is plenty of gore and nudity, the supporting cast are fun, and the direction, camera and plot are all decent. The bawdy score is entirely unsuitable for the action, and there is a rather nasty real pig slaughter for some reason. Worth a look.
