A sad first "last hurrah" for Astaire (luckily, he changed his mind) that is marked only by some of the best Berlin, Astaire, and Crosby songs that have ever graced the screen. Unfortunately, no one gives a good performance, and even worse, the story is chopped so far down that I defy you to make sense of it.

While the pairing of such icons as Fred Astaire & Bing Crosby should have been awesome, it comes off seriously castrated. With no Ginger Rogers or Dorothy Lamour in sight, there's nobody there to give them even the slightest bit of sex appeal. And when most of the show routines were below average, not even a tropical "White Christmas" could save this from being a slight disappointment.

The overarching story and acting are mediocre, but the songs and dances are worth watching.
