Blue Snake

The rehearsals, personal comments, and final performance of a show choreographed by the controversial Canadian dancer Robert Desrosiers. By request of the National Ballet of Canada, Desrosiers put together an original ballet with dancers dressed like actors and mimes in a carnival, manipulated by enormous anthropomorphic puppets. Desrosiers combined Brazilian macumba, voodoo, and other African-American, animistic cultural beliefs to create the balletic inspiration for the dancers' movements. (movies.msn.com)
