Blume in Love

Really underrated and underseen. I get the feeling Mazursky was part of the reason Woody Allen graduated from making strictly "funny" films to trying his hand at more serious adult relationship comedies.

Blume is adorable. Beautiful symetrical opening and closing shots.

I'm not sure how I feel about this film's portrayal of sexual coercion, and the lead actors (Segal and Anspach) both rub me the wrong way. On the plus side, it's a consistently interesting movie, with every new development bearing tangible meaning - it never goes on auto-pilot. You can always count on Paul Mazursky for that.
