Tuesday, June 4, 1968: the California presidential primary. As day breaks Robert Kennedy arrives at the Ambassador Hotel; he'll campaign, then speak to supporters at midnight. To capture the texture of the late 1960s, we see vignettes at the hotel: a couple marries so he can avoid Vietnam, kitchen staff discuss race and baseball, a man cheats on his wife, another is fired for racism, a retired hotel doorman plays chess in the lobby with an old friend... This movie shows the pulse of America hours before the death of Robert Kennedy, focusing on hot button issues of that time. I liked that they added baseball into this, and how it was one thing everyone could relate to and agree on. At points this movie really slowed down (enough to make my date who had been excited to watch it fall asleep and miss the ending). Since I knew the ending it was tough to do much extra with it. Would have preferred less of the lounge singer and more LiLo please!!

Just a bunch of stars playing 60s dress up. I'm pissed they even named it "Bobby."

I found the film interesting enough, not necessarily enjoyable or unique in any entertaining or artful respect. There were too many scenes that were pelting you over the face with attempts to reveal something about the human soul.. They had the right idea I guess, to see how one atrocity moves a group of characters, completely different from another, in the same place and time.. A little obvious..and just way too much going on for it's own good. This was not the product of a filmmaker.

It does a good job of portraying how important Robert Kennedy was to the Democrats, but other than that it comes off gimmicky. It's like they assembled a huge cast of popular stars and said "but look, it's 1968!" Few of the characters are very interesting, and most are just two-dimensional pop culture stereotypes that try to reflect the time period.

Historical, but without soul. Boring. I expected more of the good cast.

the cast is amazing (why no charlie sheen though?), the script was a little too overloaded, kinda tried too much in too little time, was ok besides that

Bobby is good on most objective scale. It has good acting, writing, and direction, but in reality, it's almost completely devoid of any real emotional connection to such an emotionally intense situation. The cast of characters is remarkable; some of the greatest actors alive are in this movie but the way they are portrayed is so muddled that you have no reason to care about any of them. There's a lot more that can be said about this incredibly flawed movie but it's still worth a watch.

It is a movie that, even in a year when we saw films about the most tragic event of my generation, is the most powerful film that I have seen thus far.

Very underrated, I think. I actually am impressed with how Estevez pumps a lot of debth into so many characters. I think it suffers more from the very explicitly political clips from demonstrations and the war in Vietnam, than it does from the multi-character (but not really multi-plot?) set-up. Great performances all around, and a very pleasant surprise.

An entertaining melodrama about various people in and around a hotel in the late 60s that annoyingly shoehorns the assasination of a saintly Bobby Kennedy in at the end.

I've gotta hand it to Estevez. He's managed to assemble everyone he knows in Hollywood, which includes enough greats, has beens, never was's and upcoming stars, to keep your finger pointed at the screen throughout. Sadly they have very little to do in this movie, and the 'Elephant' like structure falls flat because of the underdeveloped stories, and the near-religious awe for Bobby Kennedy. It's naive movie-making, that could have been more with a decent writer/director.

I really enjoy watching this. I think it's well made, with an outstanding cast. Really great climax, with well-developed characters; which is a considerably difficult feat when working with so many.

This movie tries to be a Robert Altman movie but it doesn't have the same overall quality as most Altman films. Estevez does show some potential as a director.

Cameos from EVERYONE. Wow. It's like Estevez just opened up his address book and gave it to the casting personnel. A pretty decent movie that has almost nothing to do with Bobby Kennedy, and everything to do with some random people's reactions to his coming, and then going. It plods, but if you're patient you'll get a lot out of this one. While not the best politically-based movie out there (and truly, this one isn't as political as it's just based on everyday lives), this one is worth watching.

"The movie has no real story to speak of, just a series of barely connected vignettes over the 24-hour period before RFK's demise, only some of which have anything to do with the ever-changing political climate of the early 1960s." - Jason Clark

Estevez falls short of hitting the bull's-eye, but he at least hits the target with enough consistency to deliver a solid ensemble piece that raises interesting points about the late 1960s, with an eye toward today's similar situations.

The one single thing I remember about this movie is a shot of naked Shia LeBouff shitting in a cat box. I'm sure the rest was just as good.

One of the best examples of an extremely well-made ensemble film. Each story is interesting, with each actor seemingly truly pouring themselves into their respective role. Emilio Estevez, like Ben Affleck, has proven he can be taken seriously as a maker of great films.

A great film with a superb cast: Sharon Stone, William H. Macy, Laurence Fishburne, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Hopins, Lindsay Lohan, Shia Labeouf, Demi Moore, Heather Graham, Christian Slator, and others. A terrific examination on the latter days of Robert F. Kennedy.

It would be better if it ditched a few of the less needed storylines and expanded a few of the more interesting ones (Nick Cannon is one of the latter, surprisingly). Still, good viewing for anyone interested in RFK.

There are a lot of moving parts with a lot of talented actors moving in and out of this film with absolutely zero point to the overall story of this film. It takes away from the real tension and historical relevancy of the film by making it a mere display for talented actors to waltz in and out with very little substance. If the intent was to use these vignettes to get us to care it actually had the opposite effect. It dragged the film down a path that played no part in history.
