I have a soft spot for early 2000’s films, that indescribable feeling it elicits having grown up around that time, like saying hello to an old friend. I was pretty surprised to find out how much Wolf of Wall Street steals from this film, one far less vibrant and over-the-top than said film yet equally compelling in its commentary and depiction of a greed-motivated industry. Also reaffirms Ribisi as a great actor, a shame he didn’t get more leading roles.

Not deep or groundbreaking, but I haven't had a day in my life where I looked at the DVD cover and thought 'Hmm. Not today.' Hell, I might even go watch it now.

Excellent movie. Ribisi is great and the script is very interesting. The scenes of celebration from brokers, the fight at the bar and the video of "Wall Street" are very good.

A good movie, I'd watch it again just for Ribisi's narration.

Not as cool as it tries to be. Plus, Giovanni Ribisie is a Scientologist which I think is just weird.

I love the Affleck bits that are taken right out of Glengarry Glen Ross but no, this movie doesn't work too well and Ribisi is a dud - by the end you want to smack him.

Arguably made redundant by WALL STREET and GLENGARRY (and may not have been wise to reference either because of this), but still a well-performed and entertaining tour through the excesses of the financial industry, with some nice character bits for Affleck, Diesel and a devastating Rifkin - a great supporting player rarely offered the meat he is given here as Ribisi's disapproving father. Lacks the central jolt of charisma a Gecko or Roma brings to its better parents, but still a fun ride.

I really like this one. It wasn't a huge movie, I don't even know if it went to theatres, but I was actually impressed with it. This would be an above-average movie in my opinion, but not off-the-charts-awesome.

Ben Affleck has a great cameo at the beginning of the movie as a hard-driving supersalesman. After that, it is unbelievably dreadful. Giovanni Ribisi mugs and grunts his way through the rest of the movies in order to persuade us that stealing money off idiots cannot satisfy your need to be loved. How original. Insultingly bad.

Not recommended for those who don't have interest in the stock market, since this is a dialogue-driven thriller, but great performances and monologues make it a sleeper classic in my book.

some stereotypical finance macho white boy wank jerked off over a black secretary and a father-son aggravated assault charge. Oh I get it he sells to the fbi, and like the anonymous law-keeper they accept it in a handbasket.

I'm sorry, but I just didn't buy Vin Diesel as a hotshot sales-type. It seems like the job requires more syllables-per-word than he is perhaps capable of. Ribisi was good, supertroubled as always, but the film itself just didn't work too well.

I like thinking about this movie more than i liked watching it. The boys are all cute, and the rap soundtrack is cool, including the attractive idea of making money. The father-son overblown relationship thing comes off as unbelievable unendurable cheese, and several other scenes fall flat as well.

It gets a solid boost of points for the Wall Street quoting scene. That's what liking movies is all about. They nailed that scene perfectly and tapped into the atmosphere amongst friends that movies can and should bring out. On that note, I could not quote you a single line from this film.

Goes out of its way to introduce some unlikable, misogynistic, asshole characters that are impossible to sympathize or side with. It ultimately just lacks purpose and ends up being a failure as a film for that reason and many others. Besides laughing at the over-the-topness of this, I don't see anyone getting too much enjoyment from it.

Pretty decent lo-fi drama hampered by Giovanni Ribisi's weak leading turn. Funny and perceptie, and moves at an involving clip- you'll be surprised when it's over. Nails the white hip hop subculture in imaginative, subtle ways.

While the melodrama is iffy at best (and laughable at worst), in some ways it's a more complete indictment of predatory capitalism than THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.

Stocks are a pyramid scheme regardless, and it's all about people. This movie both humanizes and demonizes all of them, but particularly the speculators and the sheisters. Anyone who thinks that the free market answer to everything "Deregulation" is always a good idea should take a look at this movie and give it a second thought.

If you appreciate top-tier acting, watching Nicky Katt and Giovanni Ribisi on screen together is reason enough to watch this film--they carry it from beginning to end, just as they did in Linklater's SubUrbia. That aside, Boiler Room is a fast-paced film with a solid, incredibly realistic, well-written, entertaining script. Being interested in business or finance isn't a prerequisite for enjoying this film. My only criticism is the unnecessary romantic subplot, the usual culprit.
