Bonnie Prince Charlie
In one of his rare visits to his home turf, British actor David Niven essayed the title role in Bonnie Prince Charlie. The film's principal challenge was to transform 18th-century Scottish Prince Charles into a sympathetic character, which, patriotism aside, he most decidedly was not in real life. (allrovi.com)

There is a grand toned down beauty to Bonnie Prince Charlie (1948), but the tone is too serious. Feels almost like a religious movie in mood, look and presentation. And it's dull. Highly respectable effort from those involved, but there was no excitement and it keeps on dragging, even with almost painting like camera shots. But, it's the only place where you'll see a mustache-less David Niven, so it might be worth it!
