Two black bounty hunters ride into a small town out West in pursuit of an outlaw. They discover that the town has no sheriff, and soon take over that position, much against the will of the mostly white townsfolk. They raise hell, chase women, and milk the locals for cash, while waiting for the opportunity to get their man. (imdb)

Blaxploitation flick set in the Old West, starring Fred Williamson as a shoot-from-the-hip badass bounty hunter who takes over a white town. Nothing terribly original but it's a lot of fun and has some great music.

It's a very '70s movie. From the bell bottoms in the old West, to the leather jackets worn by Boss himself. Fred Williamson's action scenes save this movie from being total crap. The action is really good, the story itself is forgettable.

As writer and star, Fred Williamson's obviously doing his own slant on the tropes of 50's & 60's Westerns. Some bits are cool, like a former slave using the West to be re-invented into a bounty hunter and Sheriff. Some aren't as compelling, like the romance, townsfolks, and lackluster villain. Still it's well-made as a brief movie with okay action & a funky soundtrack. I'm just saddened that more rappers don't sample the film's dialogue. Recommended as a time capsule & if the genre is your jam.

Could have used some more sleaze, but this mix of blaxploitation and western isn't too shabby. A fun concept, at least.

It wasn't bad. My complaint is that I expected a blaxpoitation film and got a typical western instead, albeit with more colorful language. Sidekick filled the blaxpoitation role. This was filmed well for the most part. This came out after Blazing Saddles so I expected a less PG version.

Not as horrid as I'd feared, but it still can't really be called "good". Ignore the plot and view it in the context of the decade in which it was produced. This is a western "blaxploitation" film with the black man taking on not just "the man" but everyone who put him down, be they male or female, rich or poor, authority or lawbreaker. What I found most fascinating was how the protagonists acted out black stereotypes even as they fought those who treated them as stereotypes.

Williamson's titular protagonist barely comes across as a "boss" in any sense of the word - his actions are often rash and foolish, and his comic relief deputy shows far more intelligence and competence. The action scenes are too tame and sparse, and everything else is generally lethargic and uninteresting. The theme song however is an absolute triumph.
