Breakfast for Two

A lot of fun because everyone involved is funny and great and the pacing is very tight, but there's nothing particularly special about it and the narrative is very ridiculous, even for a screwball comedy.

Jokey screwball romantic comedy that passes the time agreeably. Barbara Stanwyck decides to romance Herbert Marshall, who looks (and Marshall actually was) old enough to be her father. Eric Blore, as the butler ironically named "Butch" (at least, I hope to god there was intended irony there) steals practically every scene he's in. Glenda Farrell shines, too. Nice, light fun.

At times very clever but over-rushed screwball comedy. It seems to be in a major hurry to be over, sometimes to its detriment. There seems to be at least one necessary scene missing between the last two scenes, for instance. There are some really good gags, though, and everyone is having fun. Peewee the dog steals the show. Nothing special but agreeable enough.

I want Eric Blore as a butler too! This movie was such fun. Okay, it lacks something in the plot, but it's filled with comical marvels! Who'd imagine Barbara Stanwyck & Herbert Marshall could do slapstick comedy! And screw Rin Tin-Tin! Peewee the dog rules the Hollywood screen! Just watch it and laugh.
