A very nicely shot film, which falls down slightly on account of somewhat naively portrayed characters. I couldn't belieavbly get involved with a loveavble street runner character who I know in truth would have been an aggressive drunken youth. that said I enjoyed the acting, and PK was fun, and it succeeded in getting me emotionally invested most of the time.

Starts out with a balanced look at life on both sides of the poverty line in Britain. Law and Binoche are both passable in their respective roles, and manage some decent chemistry when together. The problem is that after a series of troubling, violent altercations, all of the characters are treated to a storybook ending where the poor family is cleared of the criminal charges the son faces, and Law reconciles with his heretofore estranged wife. None of the resolution is believable.

Jude Law needs to "break" out of this character type, and stop doing lame-ass movies.

really boring movie, if it wasnt for the actors and the nice parkour it would be on one level with Being Julia

Decent enough drama with good acting, Binoche especially is great as usual. Ultimately though, it's not that original and a few parts are rather strained just to make things work.

first half is good. but the relationship between Binoche and Law is not convincing. as the film gets more artsy along the way, the supposed internal transformation of Law's character never fully comes into existence on the screen.

Better than I was expecting. It has the feel of a good novel. Jude Law's character especially speaks and acts like he's in a novel. Such an impulsive, honest, and eloquent character could be just irritating to watch, but I found him fascinating. Unfortunately the ending is way too easy and kind of leaves a bad aftertaste, but I thought everything up to that point was really good.

The gentrification of Kings Cross is a promising backdrop for drama. Good grown-up cinema but not perfect. The social commentary is a little blunt and the ending a little too neat, but good performances and direction engage.

The movie started out great, but about half way through lost all appeal and became superficial. there really was no resolution, no understanding of self or growth for any of the characters. Each just went back to living his/her life just as they did in the beginning of the film. Great acting from Jude Law and Juliette Binoche, other performances were mediocre. Could have been a great film about human nature if it hadn't got caught up in trying to progress its plot.

"From its class warfare premise to the presence of Juliette Binoche, Breaking and Entering plays out like a softer, more cuddly version of Michael Haneke's Caché." - Nick Schager

An unconventional movie with a refreshing view to immigration, difficult parenthood and over all to the black- and whiteness of the world.

Emotionally intense - but enough illicitness and blackmail to make it interesting too.

Some interesting and beautiful imagery and not much else. Juliette Binoche has an over-the-top melodramatic character, but she grounds Amira and makes her seem human.

Unexpectedly standing as the last feature film from Minghella, it's evidence that we've lost someone from the dwindling population of directors interested in crafting films for grown-ups. There's a quiet ache to this story of a business executive who finds himself wandering a bit within his own life after a couple of break-ins at his burgeoning company. Minghella handles everything with great care. The abundance of story and telling character elements, and it's all balanced out very nicely.
