pretty standard as far as documentary narrative styles go, but really heartfelt and tragic when we get to the core of the issue. the personal approach to the story worked really well - you really got to know the characters, and ultimately feel their pain, and to realize that they're real people and that there are millions out there with a similar fate was definitely disturbing. it's a film about love and it does a fantastic job of letting us see the humanity or lack thereof behind our politics.

It's not a political statement or an outcry for revenge against bigotry; it's a presentation of love in it's truest form. How anyone can see the story of Shane and Tom and still think their prejudice is justified is, quite honestly, frightening.

A moving and equally disturbing true story which is one of the most compelling documentaries I have seen recently.
Clearly an 'issue' driven documentary but has remarkable balance and sensitivity. A genuine love story which will challenge thinking and shock in equal measure.
