I love this film. The music is great, the choreography is beautiful and the plot is really charming.

Viewed June 29, 2018. Too weird to be boring but also, perhaps, too weird to be great. At least it's beautiful whenever Gene Kelly dances with Cyd Charisse, especially the way Charisse's dress twirls with her. Is this Minnelli's first movie in Scope?

Sweet movie, well worth a watch.

The cinematography, dance numbers (not terribly impressed with most of the songs), beautiful artifice, and the distinct talents of the three principles just make this irresistible. You either buy into the magic of it all or don't.

Heck yes, weird scottish musicals!

Plot holes galore, terrible acting, and nearly every actor has a terrible Scottish accent--in fact there are some of the worst accents I've ever heard. None of the songs fit in with the plot nicely, and it's all rather dissatisfying music wise. This movie might have been watchable had it not been a musical, the idea isn't that unappealing, but too much time was spent on choreography and music and the rest of the movie was forgotten in the process. The set design was good though...

I'm biased towards this movie; Cyd Charisse is maybe my favourite dancer and musical star. Together with Kelly and Minelli the formula is there for a repeat of The Band Wagon. The setting is a little loopy, but undeniably colourful and detailed if you will tolerate those accents. Sadly there aren't a lot of musical numbers in the film; only 2 or 3 worth savouring. But when it's good, it's very good. The story and ending let it down, but Brigadoon does have character and charm at its heart.

Not my style but not one of the worst movies I've seen

Fantastic plot brought to life by Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse . The village (and it's airing as a film) appears once every 100 years... Make sure you catch the next appearance.

While not the best work by Lerner and Loewe, this still has plenty of charm.

Just not real charming. Ten minutes after seeing it, I could barely remember any of the songs

Understated musical fantasy. Not as splashy or gaudy as many of its contemporaries, this is stagey but full of warmth and a melancholy charm all its own. Remade as _2000 Maniacs_ -- just kidding, folks.

Surprisingly, a magical place like Brigadoon can be less magical that a not-magical one like Paris, and that using same director and same main actor. Yes, I'm talking about An American in Paris. I expected much more of this musical, as everything could lead to something really incredible in the artistic aspect. But not even the songs and dances (Kelly is sadly too wasted in this one) can save this. Not too boring and a nice idea, but lost oportunity to do something great.
