Bringing Out the Dead

Very, very underrated.

Perhaps a lesser-known Scorsese film, Bringing Out the Dead is an original concept that sprinkles in some top-level deadpan comedy.

"Wee-Woo! Wee-Woo! Wee-Woo!"

Soooooo depressing.

Doesn't hold a candle to the book.

Bringing Out the Dead shows Scorsese at the top of his form with a powerful film about a man who tries to do the right thing but seems to get anywhere. He is a guy who suffers because of his inability to do anything good, he wants to help he can't. He's out everynight and he being driven crazy by the weight of suffering that comes down on him. This is not a easy movie. But it's a wonderful film with fire and passion. The movie is alive, bright and vibrant with the characters and locations.

most underrated Scorsese film by a good mile!

Not a great film, by most peoples' standards, but one I personally love. A great soundtrack, some inventive ambulance cinematography and a weird drama/surreal/black comedy atmosphere. I like watching Nicholas Cage in a dramatic role, and I enjoy watching Scorcese's view of New York.
