All right as far as it goes, but Anderson has no ending. He simply restates the problems that he has been examining throughout the picture.

Now, this is what I call a hell of a great (I don't like this term, actually) 'protest film': treating everything and everyone as a joke. It takes a genius like Lindsay Anderson to bring it all in a perfect density and shape.

Pretty good on its own right, but as a sequel to O Lucky Man! and If...., it's kind of desultory.

Another scathing critique by Lindsay Anderson on the consistently heartbreaking struggle between the proletariat and bourgeoisie, and not only that but the fight against imperialism, capitalism, and the indifference of judgement by "democratic" nations toward despotic regimes. It also shallowly entertained philosophy regarding the morality and future purposes of science, which it ironically ended on that particular note, but nonetheless, it retains that ostensible charm of ol' Blighty humor.
