“Ok, I'll meet you at the place near the thing where we went that time.” Holly Hunter has the best voice, it could nag me into dust. The flop sweat scene had me flashing back to every school presentation ever, and then that one where the teacher had you shake hands with everyone after

"Well, I sure hope you die soon." While it's neither transcendent as Network nor a time capsule like All the President's Men, Broadcast News showcases a more human connection to the world of journalism. The dialogue is fantastic in ways both hilarious and cutting. It should have ended a few minutes sooner. This is not a grand statement movie about ethics of journalism, though it touches on elements of it. It gives glimpses into the inner workings of devoted -- and one lucky -- individuals.

Pacing, pacing, pacing, pacing, pacing and ...credits. I enjoyed the relationships, they seemed authentic, but then it ends and you realize the characters lived lives between the scenes and that's how real life is. I would have dropped this about ten points without the conclusion. Good movie. I feel terrible about it but Holly Hunter crying is the best Holly Hunter.

A typical James Brooks movie. It's a well done jack of all trades, but doesn't really stand out in any one area. There are some hilarious moments, but most of the movie doesn't have much comedy, there are poignant moments and insightful ones, but neither really have the depth to stay with you or be truly meaningful. It's still a very good enjoyable movie with a nice ending.

They need to make more romantic comedies that are about adults. I love how the first five minutes shows each main character as a kid, and it allows you to instantly know the character.

Network-lite. It's pleasant enough, and not painful to watch at all. Even genuinely funny in several places--especially Albert Brooks. But Network's critique of the media is so much more incisive and interesting and daring than what we find here. And since Network came out a decade before this, I can't help but see this as a kind of watered down version of the earlier film. All that said, Joan Cusack's run with the tape was definitely worth my time.

Three talented actors giving you their most annoying, irritating performances of their lives.

We interrupt your regular scheduled programming to bring you this special bulletin... Broadcast News is a 2+hour piece of garbage. Alb-Brooks acting was worse than my first grade performance as the troll in 3Billy Goats Gruff. Holly Hunter's voice is annoying. I reapeat this movie is an overrated piece of basura. Why was this nominated for so many awards? Am I missing something. Do I need to go back in time and watch it in the 80s? Hey Holly get on the bleepin plane!!!!

Holly Hunter, my god. What a performance. Top 5 all time female performances captured on camera easily.

Ah, the days when Brooks had a directorial vision for his films. This is probably him at the top of his game. A sharp script breathed to life by three terrific performers that adequately predicts the future of news television. It is a Brooks film, though, so we know we're getting a romantic comedy too. That easily could've bogged the film down, but Brooks manages to juggle both the romance and social commentary together perfectly, making us care about the characters and their morals.

A good romantic comedy, highlighting the humor in familiar situations of romance and jealousy, without resorting to contrived caricatures. Its mature approach to comedy aligns it with JLB's friend and cast member Albert Brooks' style of cinema (no familial relation) rather than with "Network" which "Broadcast News" resembles only by setting. Front and center are the awesome Holly Hunter and William Hurt.

Lacks the punch needed to be a really great or memorable movie. The scenes are well done but it never takes a chance or does anything that would be worth talking about ever. I will never understand why directors cast the best actor (in this case Nicholson) in a part where he is almost never on screen, it just makes no sense. Utilize your best assets. A decent movie but way overrated.

Broadcast News is a rather bland attempt at a comedy drama and despite a decent cast, falls into the pit of total forgetability. Although there are a couple of decent one liners and a few humourous moments dotted sparcely throughout, there is nothing outstanding and by the time the tried and tested love triangle develops I'd just stopped caring. Essentially there's nothing wrong with it and characters do have plenty of depth, but there's so stand out performances in any particular aspect.

James L. Brooks relationship comedy, you know what to expect. VERY high quality, but not exactly daring.

Love triangle dramedy done right. Holly Hunter is on fire, and there are a lot of nice little touches, cinematography-wise and otherwise.

A decent flick that's reasonably engaging and has its moment of sharp, smart writing and acting. But this sub-par media examination is not only outdated (journalists lie??! Ohh, the horror!), it's often too schmaltzy for its own good (Conti's music *shudder*). I saw this film as part of a double DVD pack with Network and this is obviously the inferior film.

Couldn't help but enjoy this even though it embodies most things that I kind of hate in a film. It's not exactly outstanding, but it's really charming, and if you're going to watch an 80's rom-com this one is smarter than the others. A real antique. Score is not a grade.
