For a pretty standard 90s action film, Broken Arrow's resounding success is that it's still wholly entertaining even a decade later.

John Travolta is absolutely amazing in this and that's why I love it. His character is just so cool and collected. He has a snappy come back for everyone and single handedly takes this movie above medicrity into the realm of being pretty good. Great theme music too.

Hollywoodified Woo is a shadow of his talented self. Just watch his pre- U.S. stuff and be happy. John Travolta cannot be taken seriously as a menacing baddie unless you are a male masseur and he is waddling toward you erect member fladoingaling in the breeze.

I always get this movie confused with another Face/Off. Not because John Travolta's in that one, too, but because I would rather rip my face off than watch either movie.

Woo's second American film simply reinforced his action-gun-for-hire status, as he tried desperately hard to conform to the Hollywood machine. Apart from a few recycled moves from Hard Boiled in well executed shootouts in tunnels and trains, there are barely any traces of his former style in this rather routine and silly actioner. Yost's script is pretty much junk, but Travolta's hammy performance and Woo's technical skill ensures that it's a watchable, if wholly unremarkable, genre exercise.

I hate films where a male teams up with a female love interest to defeat bad guys. And this really plays to that stereotype. That's why I couldn't really get behind Speed. John Woo kinda sucks as a director.

Easily one of my favorite Christian Slater flicks, which ranks this performance with his anti-hero part in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Travolta is devious and entertaining as a bad guy, so the movie works on a very general level.

Remember Sergio Leone's revolutionary casting of Henry Fonda as a child killing bad guy in "Once Upon a Time in the West?" John Woo achieves something similarly revolutionary in his casting of Travolta as modern American cinema's first, & greatest "baby face" villian. "Pulp Fiction" may have put Travolta back on the acting map, but this film is the one that really ressucitated his career.

Extraordinarily stupid action movie. Packed with Woo's expected action set pieces and stunts, but Travolta's over-the-top bad guy is fairly monotonous; and story continuity/credibility is almost nonexistent. Did it have to be *this* dumb?

Woo's trademark formula is transposed effectively to American soil, taking action to a new, highly personal level. Most of the action scenes are thrilling, varied, and brilliantly shot. Woo finds the angles he wants even in the most precarious set-ups. The characters are only shallow sketches but nothing more is needed, as Travolta and Slater both get stuck in for an all-you-can-eat scenery buffet. The support cast are good, and Hans Zimmer provides another cracking score. What's not to like?

Feels like a bad '24'. A modestly entertaining script is wasted in a film rife with weak direction and horrible casting. The effect of seeing Travolta in a villainous role is lost on me, as he's done it several times since, and really just overacts to painful degrees each time. Woo can be entertaining (I can't fault Face/Off) but he just grinds my gears here. The musical scoring is so ridiculously overdramatic that when it's actually time for the climax it's tough to care by that point.

A crazed stealth bomber pilot trying to use stolen nuclear weaponry to extort money? Sounds like an action movie to me. As John Travolta's character gets his comeuppance, one would be forgiven if one were to cheer silently to oneself. :)

Poorly thought out action flick. The heroes want to hide a nuclear weapon in the vast desert and decide to go down a mine with only one entrance. Action is comically bad throughout with only a few good one-liners. Sexual innuendos for no reason near the end and the finale seems half finished.

Well first off I hope the U.S. keeps track of their nukes better than it's portrayed in this movie. I mean come on as soon as those warheads went missing Travolta would have had the whole U.S. armed forces up his rectum. It's kinda funny to think in Hollywood land Christian Slater and a park ranger could foil the theft of nuclear warheads and possibly save the world from a nuclear winter. Sure hope that Travolta doesn't go stealing anymore nukes while Slater and smokey the lady bear isn't there

this movie had a horribly cheesy script, and didn't really develop any sort of a plot - a lot the technical terms like "nooks" weren't properly explained at the beginning of the film, limiting its scope and the plot all together wasn't easy to follow (characters appeared out of nowhere, people randomly betrayed each other, and everyone just jumped around) - only watched half of it, so i wouldn't be able 2 tell if it got better in the 2nd half, highly doubt it though ...

Thrills in Broken Arrow take the characters from a fight aboard a stealth bomber to a car chase across the flats of Utah to the bowels of a disused copper mine to a speeding train. The pace is relentless; Woo never allows the excitement to flag. In the end, Broken Arrow is an exhilarating, if empty, experience. It's the kind of thing where you turn off your brain and dig your fingernails into the armrest.

This lies in some limbo between campy and good. Viewed July 17, 2020. Very underrated film from John Woo's American period. The mixture of classic Woo heroic bloodshed, western tropes, and over-the-top 90s action movie techniques really works, and Travolta's performance as the villain is a blast. It's better than Face/Off!

Another Woo in Hollywood production that has some of his directorial flourishes, but overall his creative control seems trimmed down by the producers. It's still a very watchable action movie. John Travolta clearly is having a good time playing a bad guy in this early phase of his 90s comeback period.
