Broken Blossoms

Not going to claim the British remake Broken Blossoms (1936) is anywhere near D.W. Griffith's masterpiece, but it does mirror some of the emotional scenes credibly enough to touch the heart of the story. Unfortunately the pacing of the rest of the story is poorly done, so it becomes somewhat of a chore to get through the slow parts. Most of the guys also get handicapped by their Oriental make-up and stereotypes, but Dolly Haas does deserve praise for her performance.
