In a startling mature and nuanced performance, Parker Posey plays Nora Wilder, a thirty-something Manhattanite who is cynical about love and relationships, in this astute collaboration with first-time writer/director Zoe Cassavetes. (Magnolia Pictures)

Small-scale romantic drama rests its entire worth on Posey's heartfelt performance; the movie is full of undeveloped plot threads and characters which never go anywhere meaningful (even as counterweights to the central narrative). Still a largely compelling mix of ideas shoehorned into an indie spin on the typical 'chick-flick.'

hello!? same ending as before sunset!? almost same story!? this is a shamelessly lame movie, totally not original, even if parker posey is good just don't waste your time with this one, go and pick before sunrise / before sunset, they're the real thing

This is just an indie that has gone lame along the way. Not much potential, not a regrettable watch.

Posey hurt me physically in the film by acting like that. Just awful. Poupaud was good but there's nothing you can do across screen from garbage like that.

A slowpaced and ultimately boring indie drama that lacks all originality. Parker Posey doesn't do it for me.

A dreary waste of time. Billed as a rom com, but it's not romantic or comic. Or even competent.

Parker Posey is a lonely single woman who bounces through bad hit-and-run relationship while her friends and family look on with furrowed brows. This may be the most stranded I've ever seen Posey. She flails around for a consistent tone or something to ground her character in, and it sometimes seems like she's trying out a few different ideas in a single scene. Her performance is plainly a mess. Cassavetes' film doesn't have enough going on in it to even earn the same description.

Before Sunset in Cassavetes style.
