An interesting film for Eastwood to make, he is effectively sending himself up here by playing a wannaba cowboy who's career in that role is fading fast. Beyond that initial intrigue it is a bit on the predictable side but I enjoyed it anyway.

It's a different kind of Eastwood. A lite kind of love story/comedy.

While this is not my favorite Eastwood film, Clint does well with this Dramady. It would never have won any awards. OVerall , it's a sweet film and it's got Scatman Crothers.

En af de mange middelmådige Eastwoodfilm, kan ses og overses,gør ingen forskel.

This is a different Clint Eastwood movie that is enjoyable. Most of the characters are interesting except for the one played by Sondra Locke. Locke's character is really annoying for most of the movie. If you are a fan of Eastwood's then I would check this film out.

Seriously, what does someone have to do to get a nickname like "Scatman"?

This charming Capra-esque farce depicts the be-true-to-yourself screen hero who in the most out-and-out way embodies the place that cowboys occupy in our American imaginations, and demonstrates Clint's ability to play the opposite of his trademark loner.

Lots of very subtle humour that you could easily miss but repeatedly brought a smile to my face.

The idea to have a fantasy cowboy in the early 80s trying to mantain a show sure seems Capra-esque enough to please, but the acting never delivers it. The self-parody concept is good: these misfits can finally be who they want not out there in America, but in Billy's group. The final scene, with American flags as the new tent, shows Billy telling kids not to lie and to say their prayers. He's tough, but as gentle as a Jim Stewart character. Western as the only farce that survives modern America.

Brilliant. Hilarious film. Sondra Locke is wonderful acting angry - again great chemistry with Clint. And Clint fucking Eastwood is the best as usual.

Ludicrous movie. Local drama club-level. Yes, a potent and clever created mainpersonage and -arch within an excellent production design. Then the camera starts rolling and reveals the horendous miscasting of Eastwood himself, the terrible acting of Sandra Locke as the 'tasty snack that bites’, and actors who obviously don't feel connected to the themes and the story. The slighty enjoyable leftovers get killed by very, very cringe comic relieve shots.
