It does feel like a movie written by someone convinced they will never have a chance to make a movie again - there are just so many subplots, and so many points he's trying to make. But it succeeds in its overall ambition, bringing an authentic and honestly celebratory gay story to the screen, and that hit me.

A few good chuckles in here but definitely hits the Apatow produced movie formula too hard. Eichner's character is kind of like Patti Harrison with the tables in 'I Think You Should Leave', his job and fame are somewhat confusing. Anyway, a grand old sunday hangover watch, the only new thing is male gay intimacy in a big hollywood comedy which considering the rarity is probably reason enough for it to exist.

I don't experience the culture this is representing. I'm happy for those who find something in this. But love is universal, and a good movie bridges divides while being relatable. The relationship between these two IS endearing, even if Eichner's character is grating. It's like the movie refuses to acknowledge his obnoxiousness in any meaningful way. Most ppl wouldn't hate him because he's gay, but because he's in everybody's face all the time. With that said, some decent jokes, some heart.

Never hilarious but frequently funny. Personally I didn't really relate to having random spontaneous group sex with strangers. But there was a row of older gay men in our audience that this film obviously meant a lot to, presumably having waited their whole lives to see something like this on screen.

oh, pan seared pea-snaps! lover, do you want chevre? chevre? Billy Eichner is tolerable in five minutes chunks of him shoving a microphone in people's facing screaming trivia not 2 hours of boring comedy. If this was made with The Hangover it mightve made money and ... be funny.

Like Trainwreck, it intends to be groundbreaking by merely existing. It replaces one prominent variable, translates the details of characterization, and keeps the rest of the formula exactly the same. It succeeds, but doesn't aim for the stars. It's the exact opposite of 500 Days of Summer, which tries to re-imagine the formula but fails in its characterization. It's just hard for me to care about any rom-com like this post-They Came Together.

Smarmy and shallow with an unlikable lead. Some of the cameos are funny, but their use is also indicative of a structure problem: this is less of a movie and more a collection of bits.

Tries to balance rom-com with commentary, and ends up coming off more as a lecture. There were some genuinely funny moments, but they were drowned out by a lot of unoriginal/unfunny jokes, a lengthy runtime, and a main character that is so unlikeable it's genuinely insane.

BROS breaks ground in the rom-com genre, not just in terms of mainstream representation, but also because it's largely ambivalent about romance itself. That makes it feel more mature than most modern entries in the genre, as it successfully applies the Woody Allen template - neurotic and verbose and almost too personal - to a story that's as much about seeking a sense of self as it is about raunchy sex jokes and pop culture-laden diatribes.

Funny and on-point at times, but formulaic and waaaay too long. But enough about my cynical rants about romcoms...

I wanted to like this film so bad, but it misses the mark for me as a hetero person when I wanted a rom com. Eichner's Bobby was unbearable and didn't show sufficient character growth. Seriously, he was toxic and needed more time to "discover himself." I feel like there was too much emphasis on sex for a romantic film. Was there intentional colorblind casting or did the siblings not match for either guy? Fav scenes: Rash's insistent on writing bis into everyone; Eichner going on and on @ P Town.

Few chuckles here and there. I get it’s trying to satirize rom coms but at what point does satire turn into you just being what it is. Eichner wants this to be pricklier than it ends up being so it’s stuck in this weird zone

Some okay character work and the focus on how gay relationships can differ from straight ones is cool but idk man I laughed like three times and this shit’s nearly two full hours

As a Billy Eichner fan from "Billy on the Street" and "Difficult People", this is actually Billy at his most easy-going. There are still moments of his more abrasive character but with a touch more sweetness. This film is worth it for Bowen Yang's Haunted House of Gay Trauma.

I generally find Billy Eichner's brand of comedy annoying, so I was very happily surprised that this was so hilarious (in a very Apatow way). Also interesting how it captured the complexity of gay dating and relationships, as opposed to just making a traditional rom-com storyline but swapping the woman for another man. And totally unrelated, but one time I smoked a couple joints with Guillermo Diaz and he hit on me at a pool party; great guy.

If, in 20 years, this movie isn't recognized as a beloved rom-com of the ages, I'm suing god.

Concept: intriguing. Casting: awful. Bill Eichner: intolerable, and worst casting choice of all. Film: just barely tolerable.

Bros is a charming flip on the traditional romcom, and, although it is occasionally a little too "on the nose" with its agenda, the overall message is an important one and genuinely well executed. The chemistry between Eichner and Macfarlane feels genuine and real and the rich supporting cast is a joy (special shoutout to the amazing Debra Messing cameo.) Overall, Bros is very funny and consistently keeps you on your toes.

“Bros” is a must-see film that breaks new ground for romantic comedies with gay leads. The chemistry between the leads is electric, the comedy is razor-sharp, and the themes are handled with care. While it can feel overstuffed at times, the film’s inclusivity and representation make it a groundbreaking work that deserves to be celebrated.

It Gets Better the longer that you watch it but it's never good. There are a few laughs, lots of clunkers, and there's way too much earnestness. There's so much better gay media and representation out there, it's a bit of a bummer Billy Eichner tried to promote this mediocrity (sorry) like it was some kind of milestone.
