Bulletproof

The first 2/3 are the exact type of cop movie I'd try to make. In other words, absolutely insane and full of explosions and horrible one liners. Unfortunately, the last 1/3 is quite poor with a weak ending. Despite this, worth a view for The Busey as Dirty Harry.

Despite the great opening sequence, including Gary Busey calling a young Danny Trejo a 'butthorn', it becomes apparent that a great cast and Busey's mugging for the camera is not enough to make a great film, especially if the director (and the production crew) cannot make an action movie of some merit. If you cannot give the material some quality, the sight of Henry Silva in a wine coloured beret posing as a Middle Eastern villain is wasted.

Not sure how many different '80s action movie cliches this was intended to lampoon, but the end result is something so disjointed and uninteresting, that not even the spectacle of Gary Busey leaping from the sky while calling Danny Trejo a "butthorn" could salvage it.

So ridiculous that it's impossible to hate. Bulletproof defines what 80's action movies were to a T. This is possibly Busey's magnum opus.

There's some good jokes and as usual Busey is hilarious, along with a few good visual gags make this worth watching. wait, this wasn't a comedy? My point stands

I consider this a somewhat hidden gem of 80's action films. It's not on the level of Lethal Weapon etc. but it still delivers the action and (unintentional?) laughs (saxophone flashback anyone?). Seems to have been a template (along with Stone Cold) for National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1. Great cast with Silva, Smith, Askew, Trejo and Mr. Busey as Bulletproof! Grab a sixpack and enjoy!

80s action film. Absurdly cliche. Bad movie.
