Bullfighting sucks. I don't see any glory in killing some bull that may be big and dangerous but is really completely outmatched by H. sapiens and would probably leave you the heck alone if you didn't agitate it with your cape. Better than the Valentino _Blood and Sand_, but I just can't get excited by this kind of "courage without heroism" story

A well-done film. A labor of love.

There are slow and repetitive spots, so I understand the executive decision to trim it down before official release, but even Budd Boetticher original vision was powerful, strongly channeled by a blond Robert Stack, who was amazingly photogenic as the gringo bullfighter. And it's truly the cinematography that makes Bullfighter and the Lady so compelling. There is a sense of realism, while still keeping that striking Hollywood glamour. Every character and the arena made a memorable impression.
