I'm not one of those people who hated the Michael Bay Transformers movies. I think 1, 3, and 5 are fantastic movies. However, Bumblebee does something different with this movie that feels fresh and interesting. Hailee Steinfeld is also fantastic in this movie. The movie works well as either a prequel to the first Transformers movie, or as a reboot. Reboot seems more likely, and if so, I wouldn't mind seeing another sequel with Steinfeld in the lead.

A live action Transformers movie that is actually good? What's going on? It's almost as if having a good director, understandable action sequences, a charming story with actual heart and only a handful of transformers is the way to make decent Transformers movies. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT????

I liked it a lot! The first half of this is better than any previous Transformers movies, then it's lost the momentum a bit! Relatively grounded and minimal scale of the story made the movie different and more interesting then the others. Overall i think it is easily the best one after the Transformers (2007) Ps: Cybertron scenes are amazing!

It was a decent family flick. The lead and her beau were cute, the plot was simple and tidy, but—and I know the Transformers have been around for ages—I just couldn’t get past the robot aliens. Are they organic beings? Are they machines? Are they organic machines? What could that even mean? The concept just came across as very silly in this film—too silly for the presentation.

Started really well with the old school transformer designs and the Cybertron battle scene both likely to thrill fans of the 80s comics and tv series. However beyond that, Bumblebee feels too designed by committee and you can almost check the boxes as you watch this transformers x john hughes x iron giant mashup. The end result is an inoffensive and safe affair which is fine for a family movie I suppose, but I was hoping for more of a sting from this Bumblebee.

It's been called the best of the transformers, which may be true, but honestly its still a bit of a mess. Steinfeld and Knight do some deft character work establishing the relationship with Bumblebee, toward the end there are actually some stakes. Unfortunately, the film does a lot of exhausting work explaining the specifics of both Bumblebee's particulars and the Autobots that there isn't much oxygen left for the rest of the plot, Adlon and Cena in particular are tragically misused.

Just a load of bollocks. That being said, I enjoyed every moment that dealt with family issues (even though the mom was terrible) and absolutely marked out when the Decepticons showed up. I lost my shit when Soundwave said "Ravage... eject". So all in all, I enjoyed it as a piece of popcorn fluff even if I was super pissed how much they made my boy Starscream look like a bitch, and how they teased Optimus but didn't deliver. Will never watch again, but don't feel like I lost 2 hours of my life.

A mixture of "The Transformers: The Movie"(1986) and Michael Bay's "Transformers"(2007), "Bumblebee" is a fun flick for any fan of Transformers. Full of cool 80's music and thrilling action sequences. This movie really reminded me of the 1980's transformers cartoon, music and the toys. I really like how the movie has less transformer characters and focuses on just a few. If you are a fan of the old Transformer 80's cartoons, toys and characters then I am sure you will enjoy this movie.

This is what Michael Bay's first Transformer film should have been. The 80's MTV generation vibe was captured really well here, with a new song being played every 35 seconds! What sets this apart from all the other films is that the Transformers actually LOOK like the cartoon/toys they're based on, instead of looking like piles of metallic garbage. Not a fucking hard concept to grasp Hollywood. Give us what we want and we'll buy your shit!

Not at all what I was expecting, so bonus points for that. A generally good plot that suffered from some clichés and some confusion on what it wanted to be. Sometimes it wanted to be a nostalgia trip for 80s kids, other times it wanted to be for current kids. Ending was really weird. Not the non-stop fighting that we see in so many "hero" movies these days, and I am thankful for that.

Steinfeld carries the film and does her best with a turgidly cumbersome screenplay. The Transformer design is easily the best I have seen in the entire franchise, albeit I haven’t subjected myself to Bay’s last couple of efforts. Filmmakers have obviously studied their E.T. and Iron Giant, as the film essentially plays out like if those films and Bay's first 2007 Transformers had a three-way baby. It's not badly made - if I had an eleven year old kid or whatever and he liked it I'd be like "yeah, fair enough" - but my eyes just kind of glaze over with boredom these days anytime CGI fighting starts happening. I still love action movies, M:I Fallout was my favorite movie last year, but I just need something more real.

I wanted to love Bumblebee so, so badly. Every facet of this clunky, undercooked bore should appeal to me, down to the last detail. In practice, however, Travis Knight's take on the Transformers mythos proves just as taxing as Michael Bay's, albeit for different reasons. Knight trades exploitation for sincerity, the male gaze for strong female characters, and somehow it remains just as vacant, dull, and tiring as ever. A more competent, faithful adaptation, but far from adequate.

Bundan iyisi Optimus Prime.

Who would’ve thought the key to making a decent Transformers movie was to remove Michael Bay? Well, everyone. Everyone did. And we were right. That being said, I still only found this movie to be okay. But after something like The Last Knight, “okay” is great. It had some nice, funny moments and Steinfeld is very likable. I’ve never been a Transformers fan though, so it didn’t do much for me personally. It’s a totally competent movie - it’s a shame it took over 10 years to get one.

Bumblebee the character is given a very cute puppy dog style which is fun to watch but hardly anything else is in this Transformers shake up for me. Less of an assault on the senses than Bay's films but I have to say some of the spectacle and effects in TF1 and TF3 are far more engrossing than this.

The best Transformers film to date, though I'm not sure if that's such a feat (and I haven't watched either of the Wahlberg ones). The lack of Michael Bay's frenetic action scenes is a big plus, but the best part, for mine, was Hailee Steinfeld, who brings a great amount of emotion to her role. She does a great job playing off of Bumblebee and creating a great arch which we can invest in. By the same token, John Cena is relegated to a gimmick, which is a shame.

Characters with actual personality? Action that is not only legible, but super well-shot? Great performances? Are we sure this is a Transformers movie?

Bumblebee is a small improvement over the last bout of Transformers films, but not without introducing a few new flaws of its own. The intro is great, and feels like a a high budget adaptation of a Saturday morning cartoon. Cena is funny though under-used (and I’m starting to come onboard to his acting career). Steinfeld is a tad bland and generic in this, and the teenage drama was mind-numbing.

Transformers x Breakfast Club didn't do it for me. Felt forced and like the source material before it, the human characters are all cringe worthy. Absolute rabble that offered little enjoyment.

An 80s hommage that seems to revel in all the qualities that made bad 80s movies suck. Who'd've thought Knight would suck way worse at story and substance than Michael Bay? :D I get that Bumblebee loses his memory and all. It doesn't explain why he turns into an idiotic dog. And all this talking-in-front-of-people-like-they-can't-hear-you thing is equally dumb. The feels are too by the numbers and on the nose to feel authentic. This whole movie is a disappointment in terms of craftsmanship.
