Enjoyable star vehicle for Goldberg is no better or worse than a hundred other light cop/crime movies of the 80s; aside from a few manic character moments, Whoopi is charmingly laid back, and backed by a strong supporting cast highlighted by Goodman and De Salvo as a pair of Keystone Kops (even Goldthwait is fitfully amusing). This evaporates as soon as you've finished watching it, but is fun for a couple of hours of kickback entertainment.

A boring, dumb, generic 80's comedy, that takes on a whole new perspective when you learn that, allegedly, Whoopi Goldberg's role was intended for Bruce Willis, and this was not originally conceived as a comedy, but a more serious crime/drama. Instead of Bruce Willis starring with Whoopi in Bobcat's sidekick role, we got a terrible comedy where Whoopi is left forcing herself to make this a comedy. Luckily Bobcat provides some comic relief, but that doesn't always bode well for an entire movie.

It's got nothing on Jumping Jack Flash, but it's still better than Fatal Beauty-- if only for the inclusion of Bobcat.

Between this one and Midnight Beauty it's no wonder Whoopi has no career now.
