Burning Cane

Moody and atmospheric evocation of the Deep South is a bit slight and insubstantial, but gives neglected supporting player Pierce a chance to shine and spotlights some impressive performances from its small cast - familial tensions mixing with societal perceptions makes for a heady brew; falters a little at the finale as it tries to quickly wrap things up (though the results are quite striking and haunting).

It has the energy that shows the age of the director (17?!!!?) but is still very much my kind of movie. Beautiful
