I didn't think Monroe was very good here. There's definitely something fascinating, though, about seeing how what by all rights ought to be viewed as a really rather disturbing stalker/kidnapping tale is being presented as a breezy comedy.

The concept is simply terrible, and the naivety of Murray's character is unbelievable. This movie takes a hodgepodge of bad ideas and horrible follow through to an extreme, Monroe's brain melting-ly bad accent is a testament to that.

The direction is sluggish and uninspired, but Monroe is quite touching. Don Murray, however, just isn't in her league--and it shows.

This movie is only remembered today's because it features Monroe in her first big dramatic role. I sincerely wish she hadn't taken the part as this film isn't worth talking about. While there are decent supporting performances, they don't make up for the awful plot or intensely unlikable protagonist, who appears to have learned everything he needed to know about romance from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (what was with 50's movies and kidnapping women?). As for Monroe, she is mediocre at best.

One of the worst movies of the 50s. Totally inane

Obnoxious comedy that not even Monroe can save; Don Murray's awful acting further increases the intense irritation of his chauvinistic cowboy role.

Another movie you need to check your brain at the door before watching. Perhaps in the 1950s it was fine to act like a country bumpkin while wooing a woman (certainly one of the very few times the Gettysburg Address has been used for that purpose). Monroe seems a little distracted throughout, and her only good moments are when she shows frustration -- which for me would have been most of the movie.

Nothing special, and also, gee, what a silly plot...

65 over a 60 purely, and I mean purely, because of Marilyn. This is my second film of hers and once again I'm impressed by how good an actress she really was. It makes the fact I grew up thinking all she ever had was looks even more regretful. Personally I also thought Don Murray did really well, as did all the supporters, but no amount of good acting can fully scrub out a moral message this blatantly pro-patriarchy and coyly anti-feminist. Bo is the most annoying character to ever exist.

This film is really dated. The script is predictable and some of the characters actions are hard to believe. The actors do the best they can with the material. This movie has not aged well, it is a bad dated romantic comedy.
