It's as if they started relatively straight but then went crazy. More screwy than screwball but still a fine casual watch. As the silliiness grows so it gets funnier. All the cast looks to be thoriughly enjoying themselves. Sit back and let it wash over you.

Well produced romance flick from Twentieth Century Fox. It's got the nice settings and the quality actors. But lacks a catching story. One of those fake Russian royalty plots where Tyrone Power is forced to work for club owner Adolphe Menjou and pretend to be a emigrant in Paris and seduce Loretta Young. It's easy to the eyes with such a gorgeous leading couple, but there just isn't any major moments in this movie. Main one being the opening when a drunk Powell tries to order a eagle for dinner.
